Haha Here it is...the Clint Eastwood Thread
Can you get any cooler than Clint? Really now!
We have a good amount of Eastwood on blu-ray thankfully but Play Misty For Me would be a nice addition!

I keep hoping for U.S. releases of Two Mules for Sister Sarah and Joe Kidd as well.

Is there a good region-free Blu-ray of Escape from Alcatraz anywhere? I see several listings, but I'd like to know which is the best option.

That's my favorite Clint Eastwood movie, and I've been wanting to upgrade my DVD for a while.

The DE release is region free, but it's kind of pricey at 9.97 Euros.

Thanks! I'll probably wait, but I hope that Escape from Alcatraz does not go to Twilight Time.

For what it's worth, I was hugely impressed with all five discs in the Dirty Harry Collection.

The transfers (identical to those in the stand-alone Blu-rays above) are true to the source, and the first film, in particular, looks impressive in the format. These are not demo discs, of course, but you could do a lot worse when it comes to 1970s/1980s cinema in high definition.

I bought the UK blu ray back in June. Very satisfied with the PQ. Also lossless audio, 5.1. It is region free. It is currently going for 8 british pounds. I put it in the basket to order it again and the price dropped to 6.67. Add shipping cost and the total was $16.19 US dollars. Won't get it much cheaper than that if/when it is released in the U.S.

I believe the U.K. releases are Region Free. It seems likely that they will be released next year as several foreign countries got them this year.

It's believed to come out early next-year in the U.S., so I would just wait.

There's a wealth of Universal output that hasn't made it to blu yet.

After reading your post, I checked Amazon UK, and found that it lists Escape from Alcatraz as Region Free, so... BOOM! I pulled the trigger.

$16.19 total, including shipping for me as well.

Thanks!

I'm not expecting miracles from the transfer, because Escape from Alcatraz has never been a sparkling shiny visual film. Since everyone says that it's an upgrade from the DVD, that's all I need.

Question UK's Two Mules for Sister Sarah & Joe Kidd

Are the UK's releases of the Two Mules for Sister Sarah & Joe Kidd worth me investing in NOW, instead of waiting for a US release IYO?

Have you heard of any rumblings of a bd release anytime soon, for these 2 in the states? Thanks for any info you could provide!

You're very welcome.

Also, just to let folks know I will add Thunderbolt and Lightfoot once an image is added to the site since it's being released in a few months.
