£20.08 from Rarewaves with 10% off code RWSPECIAL10.

Ordered.

Not sure what HMV were smoking when they listed it at £29.99.

As it seems the Amazon link is for the music only, not the film.

Blu-ray audio?

0198028762595 resolves to https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DXWG3DCB/ so it looks like the Blu-ray. It's the same at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DXWG3DCB/ and https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0DXWG3DCB/

There's a CD and then some sort of deluxe vinyl too.

Rarewaves have their 10% off sale today 0900 GMT I wonder if those codes will stack.

Brilliant, I’m a fan of Pink Floyd but never actually seen this film. Is it any good?

Seems quite pricey for a 60 min doc. Can’t see any extras?

About time! This has been seriously long overdue on Blu-ray. Will the 4K release be sometime in the next 10 to 15 years.

It's an excellent concert. There's been 2 versions of it one of them is very messy and intercut with nonsense (I think that's the so-called 'director's cut').

Old DVD extras:

Interview with director Adrien Maben
Pompeii map and history
Lyrics
Photo gallery
Album graphics
Odds 'n' Sods gallery:
- Posters
- Press
- Bootleg Album Covers
- VHS/Laserdisc Covers From Previous Releases Of Live In Pompeii
- Rough Sketches By Storm Thorgerson For The Cover Of This DVD Release

https://www.dvdcompare.net/compariso...m.php?fid=4475

There's been a version on Youtube for ages claiming to be HD.

I just hope they've not fingered it more like adding the title "MCMLXXII". Yes, I get it (Roman Empire etc) but I like the original.

Fingers crossed they do a good job this time. It's my favourite live Floyd gig, but I really didn't like what they did to it on DVD, so much so that I still opted for the VHS version 90% of the time. And the 2016 mix on CD was just awful.

It seems the blu-ray will include the 74 and 72 versions of the film. We can only hope the ghastly 2002 director's cut dies a slow and horrible death in DVD hell.

I have the US DVD - what are the differences between the original and director's cuts - is it the non-musical stuff?

Yes it's some rubbish like space ships thrown in. My memory of the so-called overblown DC is he has some sort of legal claim on the film so they had to release the abomination as he demanded. it's a mess.

The simple concert film is a masterpiece of music and cinema.

To be fair on the director, Waters has also damaged his concert films on Blu-ray with adding all sorts of stuff and damaging the linear action. It's horrible.

There should always be 2 versions. If I buy a concert film I want it to be a ******* concert.

Thanks for the info! It seems to be something that particularly blights prog concert videos, the otherwise fantastic Yes Symphonic Live being a perfect case: marred by all sorts of unnecessary animation overlays: on the DVD you had the option to remove them, but not on the BD

I’ll wait for concrete confirmation that the original versions are included and not the godawful rejiggering.

Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII, the groundbreaking 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben, returns to theaters, now digitally re-mastered in 4K from the original 35mm footage with enhanced audio.

Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy, the film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience. Filmed in October 1971, the performance features unforgettable tracks such as “Echoes,” “A Saucerful of Secrets,” and “One of These Days.” The breathtaking visuals of the amphitheater, captured both day and night, amplify the magic of the performance, creating a unique and immersive experience. Additionally, the film includes rare behind-the-scenes glimpses of the band working on The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios.

This meticulous restoration delivers stunning image and sound quality, featuring a theatrical and home entertainment mix from Steven Wilson in 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. These upgrades enhance the film's depth and clarity while preserving the authenticity and spirit of the original 1972 release. Inspired by the golden warmth of Pompeii’s iconic setting, the remaster transforms this timeless piece into a masterpiece of sight and sound. Experience Pink Floyd like never before through this pioneering audio-visual remaster!

I hope it'll be also shown in cinemas of my country.
This must be a transcending experience seeing this concert on the big screen with a proper sound system.

I have only ever seen VHS recording of this I made off air (BBC2 1980-ish?) whoch was ostensibly the ‘72 music only per the original cut but which included Mademoiselle Nobbs. There were absolutely no DSOTM/Abbey Road cutaways as I was later surprised that they were ‘missing’. However, I’ve only ever seen this track listed on the ‘74 DSOTM version. I wonder, was this a tx version made just for transmission? I want THAT version.

Careful with that remastering, Eugene.
