United Kingdom UK packaging v USA packaging

From my experience the manafacturing standard is alot higher in the UK than America.Although most American releases seem to be made in Mexico.I've recieved card slip covers from America that arn't glued in the correct place also some have the printing rubbed off leaving bare white card. When i got my star trek next gen movie set the plastic slip cover was marked and all the seperate cases were marked inside so i dont know what they're doing at some of these factories in Mexico.

While I recently began ordering from the UK for Region Free/Region B titles, I would tend to agree so far. All of the BD cases I have received from the UK are thicker, heavier duty, and much better quality than the standard US or even the 'Eco Cases' used commonly now for US releases. You are also correct that many titles released in the US are actually made in Mexico.

Which is why I'd rather always wait for the UK release instead of importing from the US or Canada.

I hate the thinner style Blu-ray cases, they feel cheap and look pretty crap on display as they're too thin you can barely read the spines on them.

Also get those damn security stickers that sometimes take ages to peel off or you get residue you have to clean off the cases on the US releases.

I agree the thinner US cases do feel cheaper and less sturdy

I don't mind the thinner US cases, but I like to keep the cellophane wrapping for my Blu-rays and on the US releases it will constantly be glued to the spine so it's almost impossible to get off without ripping it apart (and it often leaves some residue.) So far this has never happened for me on a UK release. And I have yet to receive a "wrinkled" UK case.

Yeah, I hate receiving an order with 'wrinkled' cases. I have never received one that way from the UK. I have been ordering more from the UK recently than from within the US, and it has been excellent so far!

I 100% agree with this, though if a Region A has a slipcase and a better cover then I will get Region A, because then they don't look that thin on the side.

Are we talking standard amaray releases or deluxe sets, I think the UK gets the short end of the stick in a lot of like for like releases. The WarnerBros digibooks for example, sure we could import but at a premium.

Personally, I'm really starting to dislike the Viva 'Elite' cases used in the US. Recently got Face/Off, V For Vendetta and Fearless all with cracked corners. The UK Amaray cases are cool cos they don't break as easily but they're a little on the fat side. But oh well...

I think the thinner US cases, used in the UK on premium label releases such as MoC or BFI titles look far classier than our thicker cases.

I much prefer the UK's thicker cases, but I will import some US titles with a nice slipcover.

I like the UK cases, having said that Vortex's cases that are used by Sony etc in the US are basically a thinner version and ultimately my preference is those as they combine the styling of the UK cases in a slightly more compact spine. I dislike the Viva US cases and hate the Eco versions also.

I live in Australia so ours are the same as the UK however with me importing from the US I have ended up with a number of the Viva cases. I intend to purchase Vortex cases to replace them.

No wonder our economy is in the crapper. Even our blu rays are made in Mexico.

I like the UK's thicker case but I don't mind the US cases, if I had all UK cases I'd probably need additional shelving units. I also have not received any damaged or "wrinkled" cases from my UK imported orders. Overall I would probably have to say the UK packaging is better.

Same here. I live in the Netherlands and we also have these thinner cases wich I hate! They look cheap and you can barely read the spines. I order most of my Blu's from the UK anyways!

Yeah! Especially like with box sets and TV show collections! Most recently Alien Anthology and LOST Complete Collection comes to mind... They get all kinds of bonus stuff like Posters and what not, more prestine packaging and we (most of the time) just get a the standard movies/seasons inside a huge slipcase. The only company that i think is doing an honerable job over here, is Arrow. (You cant argue with the upcoming Battle Royale set)

I just ordered The Exorsist from Movietyme.com because i think the UK release looks suprisingly dull compared to the US Digibook..

I dont like the US cases though! Its great that they save room and whatnot but if you have part of a series like Evil Dead and i buy the UK version of Evil Dead 1 and the US version of Evil Dead II, which i did, it looks really weird..

Sometimes the movies dosnt even come out here! It took Donnie Darko two years to reach us and i havent heard any news on a Apocalypse Now release in Europe.
