United Kingdom Transformers: Age of Extinction 2D/3D - Pre-orders

2D: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transformers...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

3D: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transformers...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

3D not yet available to pre-order in the US. Maybe Paramount is playing games again...

From the covers, I'd say Paramount are doing a UK Top Gun 3D.

In other words, only the 3D disc is included, and won't play on non-3D players.

Isn't this against the Blu-Ray Forum specifications? Doesn't each release have to be playable on all players?

For 3D, I'm guessing not.

They're placeholder covers. The definitive contents of the sets aren't announced yet, but for a new release like this I doubt it would only contain the 3D disc.

Does anyone think that this will get released like the dark knight and dark knight rises did, where the aspect ratio changed for specific scenes? Just watched this at imax 3d and it was very impressive, would love for it to be the same at home rather than having the black bars all the way through.

I hope it get's a steelbook in the UK.
I also hope that Paramount don't screw around with the bonus features this time! They did it twice before with the original release of "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" and with "Star Trek Into Darkness".

We had to wait a while for the 3D release in the UK for the last one.

No specs known for either release yet nor a release date, we never got the IMAX Revenge of the Fallen release so might end up being a US store exclusive again.

I have the US 2D pre-ordered which is due to ship in 2-3 weeks time, that should give us some idea of what to expect.

And in the US the IMAX of Revenge Of The Fallen was a best buy exclusive too if I recall

In the US yes but we know next to nothing regarding the UK release, even the US release is a bit of a mystery apart from that it's due out September 30th and Best Buy have a 3D with IMAX listed.

It's extra incentive to get you to part with a few extra quid; much in the same way Blu-Rays used to come with DVDs when the format very first started. Most people will have one 3D TV whereas other rooms in the house will have a non-3D TV. Plus it gives people the option.

Where have you seen it listed that the UK 3D won't also include a 2D disc?

The Mock up only shows 3D Blu-Ray on the top. Being as Paramount has released a 3D only Top Gun, I wouldn't put it past them for 3D only discs to be their new policy.

Yes, I was burned buying Top Gun 3D, as I expect it to be 2D compatible as well.

I wouldn't put much faith in a mockup, would be very surprised if a release of a brand new film didn't include both 3D and 2D discs.

Well considering Paramount is the only distributor (certainly the only MAJOR studio) to release a 3D only blu-ray, I'm not so sure.

You would imagine for a mock-up they would have a 3D/2D template readily available. (And again raises the question, why should they have a 3D only template available if its only been used on one title?)

Think you are giving them too much credit, they just took the films poster and whacked on a 3D logo.

I am willing to bet a sizeable amount of money it will have both 3D and 2D discs but whether it also has the bonus disc from the US release is another question entirely.
