Just a fancier writeup of what we already know, although people can't prod Apple enough IMHO! I want them to have built-in Blu-ray before we get ours in the summer!

HD-DVD will never die, and do you know why?

Porn!

Sony has already forbidden Adult Films to be put on Blu-ray discs.

So if you think Blu-ray will really take over the market at some point, you are 100% incorrect.

Sony needs to pull the proprietary stick out of their ass and refu*kinglax. That's the only way they'll take over.

If they don't allow porn on Blu-ray and make it affordable, they will be in the same postion they found themselves in during the "betamax revolution".

they could care less theres to much power with microsoft.
the only way blu-ray is gonna become mainstrem is the studios cutting back on dvd.like the record companys did with records.
dvd is the format standing in the way.
release the blockbusters but stop the reissueing older titles and release those titles on bd.
i was around when they stopped releaseing records so cds could take over.
the records stopped showing up.
it took awhile but they cut back fast.
this has to start happening with dvd.
a format war is bad but dvd hanging around is worse!

Im starting to suspect everyone making the "porn wins wars" argument to be degenerate porn-aholics. Will the ignorant comparison to 1 aspect of the betamax/vhs war ever be put to rest? Do they even realise why it was a big deal in the format war? Or that it was the ONLY reason?

Maybe they just feel a format without endless supplies of "affordable" porn is meaningless to them and their needs?

end of rant.

There is porn on blu ray and will be plenty more.
The whole "sony forbids it" is total crap.

Disney won't alllow their products to be replicated at factories that porn is replicated. It really has nothing to do with Disney being against porn. Mistakes happen and have happened in the past where things get mixed up. They don't want any porn accidentally getting in their packaging. It can be very damaging to Disney's reputation.

The OP link talks about digital downloads
Digital Downloads... pffft.
Here is why digi downloads won't ever take control.

• HDD are dodgy and arn't 100% fail proof blu-ray/HDDVD/DVD have a longer life span. SO back up would be essential
• Bandwidth - here in Aus we don't have a sophisticated enough network to handle 20-30 gig movies ( atm)
• Internet Bills and Gig caps
• Can hold a digi download in your hand

M$ just think they can mold the world. ... I won't buy into it

Sorry, but this whole digital download thing wont work. Here's why.

In order to download a movie as high quality as blu-ray, the size of the video must be huge. But that's not the main problem, the problem is, not everyone can afford a computer with 200 gig of space or higher.

Even worse, the internet speed, to download big files means to have fast speed, but to have that kind of speed will cost even more. At this time, it's pretty crazy.

If we're speaking 10 to 20 years or so from now, then it might be possible.
But if we're talking about 2008/2009, NOT possible. Even if Microsoft launch it, it won't be a success right away.

Blu-ray will dominate for a long time. Probably will be as long as VHS/DVDs.
