Default The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I didn't see a thread for this and with the very awesome new trailer out I thought I'd make one.

Judging by the trailer this movie will/should look fantastic in theaters and eventually Blu-ray.

Here's the trailer.

I agree, the Narnia series is probably my favorite book series, and therefore I am bias but I loved the first one and am anticipating that on Blu-ray and this next one looks to be even better.

No prob on the trailer either guys, enjoy.

Ooooh... I hadn't seen the new trailer yet. Looks pretty good -- I never read the books, so I'm just going to enjoy the films as they are.

I wish Narnia was out on BR already... I imagine we'll have to wait until Prince Caspian comes out on BR for it to hit.

I really enjoyed the books, so the first movie was somewhat of a disappointment to me. I keep seeing LOTR-esqe shots and it is obvious that Disney is still trying to ride those coat-tails rather than make a unique film. I am definitely going to buy it, as they are enjoyable films, but I just wish Disney would step away LOTR and make it on its own merrits.

Trivia: Disney was the original owner of the LOTR movies but didn't want to spend the money to make the films. They sold the property to New Line, and when the first one came out and was a box off smash, they quickly acquired the property from J.R.R. Tolkien's friend, C.S. Lewis.

It's interesting that you were disappointed with the movie. I actually thought it was a pretty faithful adaption of the book. Sure, there were some LOTR-esqe shots and all, but it still felt unique in its own right. The second film looks to continue that, Prince Caspian is a somewhat darker toned story and I can see that it looks to be the same on film. But I think any film now a days that has huge battles in a fantasy movie will be compared to LOTR.

I also loved the first film. I really like the "family friendly" nature of these films as I can enjoy them with my children. My boys (8 yrs/ 10 yrs) just loved it.

Narnia and the North!

:-)

I loved the first one. I bet Disney will release LW&W near the theatrical release of Caspian -- which will also be a big hit and Blu-ray exclusive!

Thumbs up Chronicles is a must see/must read

The Chronicles of Narnia is an absolute gem and we're very lucky to have Disney doing the movie version of these stories.

For anyone who is interested in these films, if you have never read the book I highly recommend it!

I read the entire book last year in a short time, after seeing the first movie.
As always, there is much more detail in the book than they can fit in a 2 hour movie. (The book contains 7 related stories, not necessarily chronological)

C.S. Lewis was a very masterful author. The story plots are great themselves, but his ability to describe scenes and characters are what I think really stand out.

Do yourself a favor and read the book! I enjoyed the film more after reading it.

I really hope we get the first Narnia film on Blu before this is released in the theater. I want my fiance to see it properly before seeing the sequel.

I try now to read the book afterwards with most movies. I rarely enjoy the butchering that happens to the books in the translation so I just read after now.

Eragon was the latest fiasco. Great book. terrible translation. The movie however was not without its merits if I never read the book.

Sometimes this works in my favor. I enjoyed 1408 the movie a lot more than the short story.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardobe has been on HD channels for a while now, so it is possible to see it in HD without the blu ray.

That's the thing... Narnia was never about the battles. LOTR was about the inherent battle between good and evil. Narnia is about the struggle to be good.

LOTR has characters which don't worry about having to consider what is right and what is wrong - they just have to fight to survive. Narnia's characters are constantly struggling to do what is right no matter what the situation (with help of the Christfigure Aslan).

The books don't get very deep into the battles at all. That is what disappointed me most, is that they had these long drawn out battle sequences when they aren't important to the story at all. Narnia was never about the strongest or most determined winning the fight, it was about the person who was "good" being the end winner. Battles are won by good people, but a battle isn't the only way to fight.
