I finally got Network's UK Blu release of The Monster Club.
I have always had a soft-spot for Milton Subotsky's much-maligned final foray into portmanteau storytelling. To say that I was pleasantly surprised with the transfer is an understatement - my jaw hit the floor when I put it on, as the image detail is breathtaking and the colours pop like never before. The PCM audio does a pretty good job of bringing you the songs on the soundtrack like never before. The extras are disappointing (an isolated music & effects track, trailer, textless trailer, "clean" opening and end titles sequences and a rather pointless montage of clips), but I am more than happy to have a wonderful-looking copy of the film. If people bought this film on Blu, it will hopefully prompt Network to release more of this kind of thing in the future. ![]() Kev W |
