Default Christopher Nolan’s Syncopy Teaming with Zeitgeist on Blu-ray Releases

Quote:
Zeitgeist Films has formed a joint venture with Syncopy, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas’ production company, to release Blu-ray editions of Zeitgeist’s prestige titles.

Nolan and Thomas have been friends of Zeitgeist since the independent distributor handled Nolan’s first feature film, “Following,” in 1998.

The first title in the partnership is “Elena,” from “Leviathan” director Andrey Zvyagintsev. “Elena,” which won the Cannes’ Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize, is a modern noir thriller in which sixty-ish spouses uneasily share a palatial Moscow apartment.

“Elena” stars Nedezhda Markina in the title role and features Hitchcockian music by Philip Glass. Zeitgeist has set an Aug. 4 release.

“We are excited to be able to release this beautiful film on Blu-ray for the first time,” said Zeigeist co-presidents Nancy Gerstman and Emily Russo. “This is a dream project for us and we’re grateful to Chris and Emma for their support in making it possible.”

The next collaboration between Syncopy and Zeitgeist will be a compilation of the Quay Brothers’ animated short films to be released for the first time on Blu-ray in the fall.

I would not mind having "The Pervert's Guide to Ideology" on Blu-ray.

I'd like these on Blu:

Billy the Kid
Family Viewing/Next of Kin (the UK got these two but they're region locked)
Into Great Silence
Nowhere in Africa (with the extras from the Sony DVD ported over)
Poison (my most wanted from this label)
Trouble the Water

They also have Sophie Scholl: The Final Days but the UK release is region free.

Fantastic news! I'm looking forward to more Quay Brothers on Blu-Ray. Hopefully this means we'll see upgrades of Irma Vep and I Can No Longer Hear the Guitar

YES! Very much so. I'd also love to see Institute Benjamenta get the upgrade. Since they've got the Quays' shorts lined up as their second release, and since there's already a blu out from the BFI, I bet it's likely.

I did some research, and it appears that Zeitgest also controls the rights to some acclaimed Peter Greenaway's titles such as A Zed & Two Noughts and The Draughtsman's Contract , as well as Olivier Assayas' Irma Vep.

Interesting titles.

I'm pretty pumped for the Quay Brothers box set. I know that'll be a pretty big deal. Elena is pretty exciting as it is. I'll wait for reviews on the discs though. This is great though.
