Default Introducing the Family to Blu

I recently just purchased myself a PS3 and am looking forward to taking it to my family gathering for Christmas. I really want to get my family (all 20 of them) in the right direction with Blu-Ray. I was wondering if anyone has any advice and any specific BDs to show them. I have a very limited budget for this project.

Thanks for any help!

Well since it is for a family you cannot go wrong with Ratatouille. Great on both AQ/PQ.

For live-action it's Pirates all the way! Just pick any of the three, you can't go wrong. Disney doesn't skimp on the quality!

I did hear that Disney was one of (if not) the best for PQ/AQ.

I'm not sure about Ratatouille. My little cousin didn't really enjoy the movie in theaters (but then again, at 7 she's not likely to care all that much about PQ/AQ anyway)

when I had my family over to my house for thanksgiving we watched the Rat movie on SDdvd in an old crappy 27" tv. now with the current set up it will blow their minds 61" inches of living in BLU you can't go wrong.

I hope your family has a 1080p HDTV to truly enjoy the Blu experience, via HDMI of course.

My demo discs are Dave Matthews (16:9, HD camera) Pirates 2 (sword duel on the beach) for film based, Ratatouille for CG (the coup de gras of detail PQ)

Everyone loves a good reality based viewing. My ultimate recommendation is that you get the 'Galapagos' documentary to use as a demo disc. Even though it's a VC-1 encode, the BBC made a product that lights up the eyes of those I show it to more than it does the 52" Sony Bravia W3000 1080p screen that I show it on. I have literally seen jaws buried in peoples chests. I even got a tear from one friend!
