Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970)

The lack of excitement about Criterion releasing this title is mind boggling. Perhaps because it was never released on DVD people dont know about it? Anyhow, curious to see if anyone besides myself knows about this movie that won an academy award for best foriegn film when it came out.

I'm all over this Criterion Blu-ray when it comes out in December. The more that I read about it, the more I keep thinking that it's up my alley.

Love this movie! I can finally get rid of my vhs copy that I recorded off of the Encore Mystery channel 8 or 9 years ago. Florinda Bolkan looks smoking hot in this one. I came damn close to ordering the Italian blu from amazon.uk.

Very excited. I recorded it off a cable channel years ago. (Encore?) But I erased it after a couple of minutes when I realized it was dubbed not subtitled... which I almost immediately began kicking myself for when I realized the subtitled version wasn't available anywhere in the US. I've been waiting literally years to see this.

Gian Maria Volante is superb in A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. He commands almost as much attention as Eastwood.

More importantly, he's also incredible in Melville's Le Cercle Rouge, which is one of my all-time top five films.

Yes, I know about this and am looking forward to it. Not only did it win the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1971, but one year later it was nominated for Best Screenplay, those weird Oscar rules!

I actually emailed a suggestion to Criterion about this one, which is one of the very few times I've bothered doing that. I can't imagine it made much of a difference in their decision.

This was never on DVD in North America, right? I don't think it was ever officially on VHS either (correct me if I'm wrong on that). So does that make this release its North American physical media debut? Either way, day 1 purchase for me.

I'm starting to get really spoiled with Criterion releasing all of my Criterion wish list films. Maybe I should start a new one

I've had a subtitled version of this for a long time but will definately get this criterion release eventually. Great movie...All of Elio Petri's movies are worth checking out.

Im almost positive that it had a VHS release by Columbia back in the day. And Im pretty sure it was available on laserdisc too.
I lobbied for this long and hard on Criterions FB page for years, apparently there were at least a few of us or they wouldnt have decided to release it. Regardless Im thrilled that its coming.
