And Vicol keep the classics coming with 1997's The Soong Sisters due on Blu-ray later this month.

To be honest, I'm not that big on this one (it's more than just a little bit too pro-Communist China leaning for my liking), but it's one of Mabel Cheung's most well-known movies and I think she is a very good director. She always works with screenwriter/director Alex Law makes kind of understated dramas/tearjerkers. She's probably most well-known for 1987's An Autumn's Tale starring Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung.

Cheung and Law are also the only two filmmakers so far, in my opinion, who've managed to get very good dramatic performances out of Sammo Hung - first in 1988's Painted Faces (directed by Law) and in 1989's Eight Taels of Gold, a movie that really gets to me each and every time.
