Default What's the longest you have went without watching a film you prchased?

Is there anytime you have purchased something and for whatever reason it sat on your shelf unwatched for a long period of time. If so, how long?

Last month I opened up a 12 year old DVD, shrink wrap and all and finally watched it. The movie was Memento.

I don't know why in 12 years I never watched it. But I figured it was time.

I’ve probably got a dusty blu-ray from like 2016 on my shelf right now.

Over six years for Schindler's List (even re-buying it for the recent slipcover).

My oldest unwatched is Pride & Prejudice, bought in January 2012 during one of Best Buy's classic Upgrade & Save sales. I got it because my mom and sister love it, and I've just never been struck to watch it. I couldn't tell you about my DVDs, because I don't have an accurate purchase log.

No shame in that. Like I said, mine was 12. I remember liking the movie so when I realized that I wanted to start collecting movies in '06 I just started buying movies on sale when I had the money. Picked up the special edition 2 disc of Memento and it stayed on the shelf. Never found the time or was in the mood to watch it. Glad after all these years it worked fine. Lol

I bought Saw III like ten years ago and still haven’t watched it. I’ve seen the movie just not that Blu. I legit only bought it because it had the slip.

Does anime count? Because I’ve purchased a number of DVDs to support the anime but have often preferred to watch the fansubs instead (keeps the honorifics, explains cultural aspects, stylized subtitles, etc).

There are quite a few Blu-rays in my collection, bought by or for my husband, that are still in the cellophane. I think the oldest one is Crank, which I bought for him in 2010. If I like the film (or if it's a blind buy I purchased) I will watch it ASAP. He isn't like that, obviously.

My copy of Gone With the Wind must be nearly 10 years gathering dust....

I love the classics but this one I struggled after 30 mins and it's remained on the shelf ever since.....and frankly I don't give a damn

......... Ray. Bought the dvd back in 2004 and I don't think I've watched it since I bought it. I also have a copy of D.W Griffith's Intolerance and I don't think I ever watch that. I was in that phase where I was going hard on silents and criterion releases but didn't get around to some of them.

When I bought my first Blu-Ray player, it came with a redemption for - I don't remember - something like eight Blu-Rays from a list. Of the titles on the very limited list of 20 titles, I picked up Superman: The Movie, Harry Potter 1-4, and then didn't really want anything else, but I had to pick three more. So I chose A Stir of Echoes, Ultraviolet, and The Last Waltz. I still haven't watched Echoes, Ultraviolet, and The Last Waltz. So, to answer the OP's question...over 11 years?

I'd say at least 3 years. I bought Watchmen on Blu Ray back in 2016 because a co-worker said that I would love it. Fast forward to now and I still have yet to watch it.

And I'll do you one better, I even 'blind-upgraded' the title earlier this summer to 4K, still having yet to watch it.
