Also there's the matter that this BD transfer is a separate optimized transfer from the one used for the hd dvd.

Just pre-ordered it along with 'Layer Cake'. So it won't be till at least after March 13 that I receive it due to the 'Free Shipping' policy. ($39 and over)

Yo Gary, is Amazon still has that Buy-3-Get-10% for one year deal still? I'm about to order the Discovery Atlas - Italy and Australia (stupid Overstock.com and DeepDiscount.com don't accept orders billed outside of the US) and I'm looking for one more title to complete this deal.

For sure. I think they extended the activation date to the end of 2007.

Every disc I've bought from Amazon, so far, has had a 10% discount.

I guess it should be pointed out that Amazon's normal DVD discount is 40%, and their normal HD discount is only 30%. That 10% is off the resulting 70% of list, so really it means Amazon has a 37% discount on HD discs, and thus is keeping an extra 3% premium for themselves.

I've looked a little through Google, and IMDB, to get some info on Chronos. But I'm not finding much. Can someone please explain what it is? Is it an actual short movie? Or more of an experiment that was filmed. Also, does it really benefit much from being put on Blu-ray? Is it also on HD-DVD? Is there a review out of the BD?

For information on the film, and the other films done in a similar style, check out http://www.spiritofbaraka.com. It's one of Ron Fricke's earlier films.

Sure it does. It's 1080p (taken from full-resolution film) with lossless sound.

Mmmm, I'm in two minds.

I really enjoy this genre of 'presenting life as we don't see it' type movie, but I have the Koyaanisqatsionpowastaskikittykatsss trilogy and I'm not sure whether to jump in.

Does anyone have this title and can anyone recommend this title?

This is one I intend to pick up next year after once I've gotten an HDMI 1.3 receiver.

I can't wait to hear the DTS-MA 24/96 lossless track on this bad boy.

I have Chronos, after the revised version for the PS3 was released. PQ is worth every penny - I'm using it as a "demo" disk, especially the sequence that was filmed within the Notre Dame cathedral. SQ is already outstanding - can't wait to hear the HDMI 1.3 rendition.

From me, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

They've done a tremendous job on making sure everything is as good as can be (like 96khz DTS-MA on BD) plus they replaced discs that didn't work with the PS3 without any hassle (even sent out a return envelope for the faulty disc). Buy it

PQ isnt the best. Some scenes are breathtaking, while some are just blah. Blame that on the old film...

But overall, it is a MUST OWN blu-ray. A great disc for any purpose.
