To Kill a Mockingbird Blu-ray Review

To Kill a Mockingbird Commemorative Edition Blu-ray

Release news https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7805 pre-order

Since a number of threads have been started on other titles mentioned by Blu-ray.com as coming from Universal...

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5266

...I thought I would start one on the film I think is the best of the fifteen titles..."To Kill A Mockingbird."

Funny enough, last weekend I was watching the film again and thought to myself that it should be on Blu.

This is truly a great film, and Gregory Peck is absolutely wonderful.

I am very excited for this release. To Kill a Mockingbird remains one of the only movies I truely love. I hope that they dig all sorts of special features out for this one because there is so much to learn about how they filmed the movie.

Count me in! I'm still gonna keep my Legacy Edition because of the awesome packaing and extras (including 11 mini poster replicas), some of which may not be ported to the blu. Gregory Peck was such a class act, I miss him. Plus this was Robert Duvall's debut film, he still acting today and lives in my state of Virginia! I also believe Harper Lee is still alive as well.

Truly one of the best performances by an actor... Gregory Peck. This film is excellent...... and worth the $$ just to watch Mr Peck in Hi Def. A must own for any serious Blu Ray collection.. Plus one of the best music scores ever. First class movie.

Definitely will get this film but not day one. I'll wait for a sale.

One of the advantages of being old is that you develop patience and time goes fast. I'll forget about this movie until one day, voila, Amazon will have dropped the price to my trigger point.

It is Universal. I will need to wait for some reviews in case they botched up the transfer. But yes, this would be a great addition to the collection!

This is exciting news! How can you not love Atticus Finch and Scout? One of the greatest American novels. Period.

Amazon doesn't have a release date yet, they're just moving the orders to 2011 (Got an anouncement for Mockingbird and Animal House)

Unviersal usually gives retailers two months to pre-order before the release date hits

Depending upon my mood, when people ask me to name my favorite film, I will say "Lawrence of Arabia," "The Godfather," or "To Kill a Mockingbird." The one thing each of these films have in common: They are flawless.

One of the scenes that always gets to me is when Scout asks Jem what their mother was like and Atticus is sitting on the porch quietly listening to their conversation—their mother's absence is felt so strongly by the characters and the audience. The chemistry between Gregory Peck (Atticus) and Mary Badham (Scout) is so real that their scenes are moving without being manipulative. There is so much to say about this delicate film and I cannot wait to own it on Blu-ray.

Smile A gift for my mom.

I'll get a copy for my mom. She loves the movie, although she's weird she doesn't really rewatch her favorite movies much. We're complete opposites.
