Question Which TV please...

I currently have a new Samsung 40" 1080P LCD @60Hz with 15,000 contrast ratio and 10bit display.

My father wants to buy my tv and I want something bigger becuase I sit further back from my tv...like 9feet or so on a bed.

I don't do gaming and this TV will be mainly used for Blu-ray movies and regular tv. So I'm looking for the best quality picture I can get for the money.

I am also interested in the 24p/1080 input support to reduce judder from the 3:2 pulldown.

I'm currentyl deciding between the Sony XBR4 46" LCD with (18,000 contrast ratio, 120Hz, 10bit display and true 24p support with 5:% pulldown) and the Samsung 52" LCD with (25,000 contrast ratio, 120Hz, 10bit display, and 24p/1080 input)

I don't know if the Samsung does a true 5:5 pulldown or true 24p support like the sony's.

My question is it worth spending the same amount on a 46" screen with virtually identical PQ, but with true 24p input support, or would it be better to go 52" and get the same PQ, better Contrast ratio, but without true 24p 5:5 pulldown known?

P.S. Judder does bother me some.

i'm a sammy type of guy and i was at best buy over thanksgiving checking out the 120hz tv's and honestly, i could only tell a slight difference. between the PQ. unfortunately, the display only split the screen in half so, i wasn't looking at the same picture one in 120 and the other in 60.

if you've got the money to spend get what you want and what appears to be a better pq to you, if the judder bothers you.

Thanks for the input, I believe I'm gonna go with the Sony since 3:2 pulldown judder does bother me some. Ofcourse a true 24fps picture will still have some choppiness to it on fast movement due to the limited frames.

Hi,

I wanted to ask you guys the same question. I live in a small dormroom. Currently I have a cheap 15" LCD which I use to play games and watch movies. I want to upgrade to a proper TV next semester. Anyone having suggestion on what size and brand to buy for a 12 x 10 dorm room????

I used to live in the dorms too... I had a 720p, 26' LCD HDTV Samsung and it was perfect for my room. Affordable too!

Honestly.. I love LCD's and i've had 2 Samsungs. 26" Samsung, and now a 40" 1080P LCD HDTV Samsung...

But... The best bang for your buck and best movie quality TV would be a Plasma. I am still convinced that Plasma's are still the best bet.. IF YOU'RE MAINLY WATCHING MOVIES. But, since i'm not... i had to choose an LCD for my PS3.

I have a 61 inch, 1080p, HDMI v1.3, Samsung HL-T6189S and it has been amazing. If you are going to upgrade, this is one of the best DLP TVs on the market right now.

I had a 25" tube in my apartment in college. My dorm room had a 20-something" refugee from a motel TV. We just used it as a dry erase board. You are in college, read some books. Hahaha.

32-40".
