I was thinking that since the 60GB ps3 has slots for compact flash and memory stick duo and pro duo, what would you use them for? If I have a digital camera and I take the card out, I can view the photos on the ps3. I could also transfer the content to the memory stick duo or vice versa. What else would you use the slots for?

Not to pick, but I think the topic that I made is good. It's a simple question.

If I had the 60GB version of the ps3, I was thinking about what I would do with the memory stick duo slot since I have the handheld.

I know that you can not only use the psp as an additonal controller, but I bet that you can also stream media from the psp to the ps3. I think that you would use the networking switch on the psp and somehow connect to the ps3. There would be instructions on how to do this. I'm wondering if you could transfer something from a ps3 game onto the memory stick duo and boot from the memory stick.

I'm sure the flash slots will be a process in evolution with the initial basic functionality to include song, video, and image transfer. Not one of those things really matters when you understand that you really should have your PS3 on your home network. But, if you don't, then it offers a convenient way to get your photos, etc. from your PC to the PS3 and your home television without the need for a PC->TV connection.

What you're saying is true. I'm just thinking which ps3 I should get. I don't care about the price. I mean, you get a freebie blu-ray player right out of the box. I do have the psp and a digital camera so I can use both of the slots. I don't do online play so I would have no need for the wi-fi stuff. I don't have a flat panel tv, but that doesn't mean that I can't upgrade in the future. I just wonder if I would use the memory stick duo and compact flash slots a lot.

The 20gig PS3 can do all the same memory card stuff, it needs an adaptor though.
For me it means I can load my digital photos directly onto my PS3 for viewing, but I've yet to hear what video formats PS3 will be able to play back? Only mpeg4, or will it convert any other standard type of video automatically to mpeg4 for onward transfer to PSP? |

The 20GB version doesn't have slots for compact flash and memory stick duo. There is no wifi function either. We need some kind of a memory card reader in order to use ps1 and ps2 memory cards. Although Sony will probably annouce how this will work, I'm guessing that we will use a memory card reader as I said, which will connect to the ps3 via USB. It's possible that Sony might release a reader to for memory stick duo and compact flash, but if that happened no one would get the 60GB version. In your case, I think the 60GB version will do. It's only $100.00 more then the 20GB version.

There is only one reason why I would get PS3. Blu-Ray. Games are just bonus material, although I probably use up most my money on Wii games and Blu-Ray movies. |

You don't have to start all over with ps1 and ps2 games. Sony is addressing this issue. I plan to use the ps3 as a blu-ray player since blu-ray players are very expensive. Some fear that the ps3 will only be used as a blu-ray player in some homes, but Sony doesn't care. They are hoping that the ps3 will help blu-ray sales, much like the ps2 helped DVD sales.

There's an adaptor on the way for you to transfer your old saves to a virtual memory card.
For God's sake Takezo, stop posting your own opinions as fact. You're not doing yourself any favours here. Do some research before you post. |

The flash slots on the console are interesting. I will not buy a ps3 soon because it won't launch soon. I agree with you. The ps3 is black. The moon is white, but not on the other side. Roses are red violets are blue.

What you're saying is true for the first sentence. Sony hasn't said anything about the mystery device, but unlike Microsoft, they are addressing the issue.
