Warner Bros Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)

I asked Warner Archive Collection if they would please release Exorcist II on Blu-ray instead of WHV releasing multiple releases of the original and they responded with this:

Warner Archive Collection: WHV is planning to bring it to Blu.

YAY! I actually like Exorcist II! So Warner Bros. themselves are releasing it!

Exorcist II really is an awful film. That said, I'm a sucker. If they release it, I'll buy it. Hopefully a purchase helps them decide to release the much superior Exorcist III.

What about The Exorcist III? I'm sorry but that has more priority over The Heretic. Not to mention that the film itself is miles better as well.

I like this movie. Script and acting is a total mess, but I love the cinematography and the Morricone score.

The Warner Archive is probably the best move for this movie. Glad to see hints of stuff coming out from the Archive, I just wish they'd speed of the process. I thought we'd have at least 10 titles by now

I wonder if they'll include the alternate cut that hasn't been available since the days of VHS?

I've never seen that version of the film but apparently it's meant to be much better than the Theatrical Cut.

Or better yet, license it out to Scream Factory, who would give it the proper special edition treatment it so richly deserves. I could wish for the Legion director's cut, but i know a lot of that footage is destroyed and gone.

That's pretty much my same thought process of the movie. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out.

I'm sure III is just a matter of time - day one purchase on that one.

WB doesn't license out films.

Sadly, I am aware of this. It's probably why Criterion hasn't been able to sink their amazing claws into Before Sunrise/Sunset

I've heard that too, very curious to see it. I believe both versions played in theaters, though probably not widely and for long.

Great news! Would pick up 3 and the other sequels if they came out.

They gave Badlands to Criterion, but that's probably an exception.

I'll pick up The Heretic, though it's a poor excuse of a sequel, but I agree with others here...where is Exorcist 3?

The only one, unfortunately. I'm not sure if the Pre-Code film that was teased by Criterion a while back was specified as WB.

I would buy The Exorcist II on blu...not one of my favorite sequels and has its fair share of flaws, but there are some redeeming qualities as well, especially the Ennio Morricone score.

Exorcist III is what I'm really hoping for! That's an underrated gem and quite creepy. Dominion and The Beginning I can do without...they were horrible IMO.
