This film always reminds me of Roger Ebert who absolutely slaughtered it on the week of release and then included it in his conversation of the year's best films. Critics can change their minds, of course, but he went from thinking it was a joke to loving it in a few months.

Fabulous - I'll buy this. Thank goodness I don't waste my money on a recent DVD from Australia.

So, has anyone watched the BD yet? What's the verdict?

Hi All,

Just started to play my copy of 'Indochine' and thought I would watch the documentary first- alas, No english Subtitles!
I've scrabbled around with my player and I can get english Subtitles on the film itself but none on the documentary-surely this is a mistake?

If selecting the English menus, are the English subtitles not automatically displayed for the documentary?

You can select English subs via the remote when the documentary starts.

On the disc, there's an initial choice between France and UK. Make sure you select the UK option (this doesn't relate to the film soundtrack).

Assuming you did that, what player are you using? On all players that I'm aware of, the remote should have a button marked 'Options' or 'Display' (or something equivalent) and one of the options should cover selection of available subtitles. The disc definitely has English subtitles available on the documentary.

Stunning transfer. My wife and I loved it when it came out in 1992. Terrific lead performances. So glad that it is now in my collection.
