I just finished the Kill Bill movies on blu-ray and it got me thinking. Who is the baddest a** female protagonist in an action movie? Whether it be The Bride/Beatrix in Kill Bill, Selene from Underworld, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, or Sarah Connor... who is the baddest?

Its actually pretty difficult to vote here as you state 'Action Star' compared to character as you fail to mention any actress names. So are we voting for character or actual actress' portrayal of the character? Though my answer may or may not change, but I went with 'The Bride' as I felt that Uma out acted as well as out 'actioned' the rest of them.

Got to go with Beatrix Kiddo (The Bride)! The action from the fight scene in the House of Blue Leaves (The Crazy 88) alone constitutes the very definition of "bad-ass."

what is the criteria for 'best female action star'? if it's based on athletic ability, Michelle Yeoh trumps everyone in the list. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000706/

Ellen Ripley. No special powers, abilities, or weapons training. She basically had to whoop alien ass with sheer guts and determination not once but 3 times. I think it's only fair that they evened the playing field when she gained some powers through DNA cloning in Resurrection.
