Default Anyone using Sling.TV?

So on a whim, I decided to try this thing out. Signed up, downloaded the app to my Android Phone and my Xbox One.

Seems to work well enough. And I have to admit, as an NBA fan, it's nice to have ESPN and TNT back, especially with playoffs coming up.

I'd definitely prefer some Chromecast integration, but at least it's on the X1 in the media room and I have a Roku 2 I can dust off and hook up in the bedroom to have it in there if needed.

Anyone else have experience with it?

Use it on Roku 3. Love it. And quality wise, blows my old Dish service away.

According to this news, they've added a few more channels as of today:

Pretty stoked that they added History. I am a Pawn Stars fanatic.

With even more channels now they are making it a great deal. I have it, but haven't used it much. I just don't consume tv that way anymore.

Good thread...this is a service I'm interested in so I appreciate hearing experiences.

Does Sling stream commercials over and above the commercials on the broadcast channel? I thought I heard something about this which is a turn off. The main reason I don't subscribe to Hulu Plus is the commercials...paying for streaming content and having to endure commercials is nuts

I'm going to go with a Roku 4 which should be coming out here soon I think!

I got it a week ago through my XB1 and I have a full month for free. So far, it's really sweet. I was able to get all the bonus channels/packages for free to test out as well and I dig that a lot.

I had a few issues at the start with the streaming capabilities and that was all on their end as I have the fastest internet connection right now, but they fixed it pretty quickly and it's been smooth ever since.

I find it VERY attractive that they are adding channels to the base package at no extra charge. If they keep doing that maybe once or twice every 5/6 months, they'll only be doing themselves a huge favor as that'll draw many more in.

I currently have 1 year and some change left on my contract with DIRECTV and I already called them to say that I'll probably just take the bullet and pay the early termination fee. Right now, I pay 60 dollars for my service through them...but they told me once May comes around it'll go up an incredible amount(which they couldn't specify how much exactly)...

I'd rather pay 240 dollars one time than having to pay over 100 every month for another year with them. My plan is to get the base service for Sling TV for 20 bucks and use my digital tuner for the over the air channels you can't get with Sling(yet that is)...

My main shows that I watch are Bates Motel and The Walking Dead so basically, I'm covered with Sling on that aspect altogether.

For anyone that hasn't tried it out already, I'd suggest doing so as it just keeps getting better and better...and will continue to improve vastly since big competition is starting/on the horizon in this streaming business.

There are still commercials, as it's essentially Live TV. So just like cable/satellite, even though you pay for it, there's till commercials.

It's important to remember that we are in uncharted territory as far as "IPTV". A friend of mine said just think of it as 0.01 Beta, and I think that's apt. I'm sure there will be many solutions over the next few years as networks try to adapt.

Also, it's important to remember that because it's a live service, there's no pausing/rewinding or other common DVR functions folks may be accustomed to. If a show starts at 8pm, you need to be sitting in front of the TV at 8pm to catch it.

Of course, if you've got a hardware solution with a DVR box that has a passthru, you may be able to avoid this.

App update on Roku. It is an absolutely sluggish mess for me. Ugh.
