So next year in 2015, 'Back to the Future' will celebrate it's 30th Anniversary.
'Back to the Future Part II' will be the year in which Marty and Doc travel into the future; October 21, 2015. And 'Back to the Future Part III' will celebrate it's 25th Anniversary. Myself and many BTTF fans are trying to convince Universal that they need to re-issue the films on Blu-ray in 2015, as they have not been available individually yet in North America. There are a lot of things planned amongst the BTTF fan community next year, as well as a boat load of new merchandise. I know that offering the films again on Blu-ray with the same material isn't much of an upgrade by any means, but perhaps Blu-ray collectors and movie fans could give some ideas of what else they would like to see on these potential discs. Of course, a 4K transfer of each film would be the ultimate, but I doubt Universal would even be bothered. But you never know. Also with 2015 being such a landmark year, it would be nice if Universal could also release 'Back to the Future: The Animated Series' onto disc. It was on the list to be released in the mid-2000's, but never happened. As a BTTF fan, it's something I want in my collection. |

I think a 3D release is in order!!
4K is a waste when 1080P has grainy results... They've been releasing old films on 4K like Ghostbusters, but how close do they get to 4K? What's next 16K? There's gotta be a line...? Upscaling should be all we need for the oldies... SH |

A 4k remaster edition would be amazing indeed.
The old 2k master was not that bad but Universal did destroy it with the noise reduction and edge sharpening effects (DNR&EE). I'm pretty sure they can get more informations from the original negative or a good interpositive. The idea of including the original stereo mix would also be awesome. I've seen some people here talking about the "To Be Continued" logo which could be activated or not from the menu. It's a good idea. Even if it wasn't part of the film in 1985 it's still part of the BTTF history. This actual logo gave a bunch of happy faces when the movie first came out on VHS! Anyway, while we're waiting for some news here's something I've made recently just for fun: ![]() ![]() Last edited by ilovewaterslides; 08-12-2014 at 01:48 PM. |

If you look at some of the deleted footage on the current blu ray, the footage looks amazing. Ok it's covered in scratches and needs cleaning up, but there is soooo much grain, it looks lovely. I can only hope that a 4k master and reissue could be done for 2015. However universal are the "that'll do" penny pinchers of the film industry, if there is one studio that wouldn't do it, it's universal.

I'd like to see the three Back to the Future movies released individually on Blu-ray in the USA this year.
Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Back to the Future Part II: 2015 Edition Blu-ray Back to the Future Part III: 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray It'd be a good marketing gimmick and it'd make the fans happy. I'd honestly rather see this than a new "remastered version" of The Breakfast Club. |

I'm not sure if it will happen but it should. Supposedly there have been discussions about doing 4K scans. Someone who works for one of the most popular Back to the Future websites had a meeting with Fox about fans wanting 4K versions, but I don't think it was ever said what the results were. |

They should be looking even further ahead, and producing a pristine version in 8K or even 16K. That would save them tons of work and money for at least the next decade, if not longer. Every time a disc format comes out that can hold more data, they simply take the polished films, and use less compression.
