Are they going to stop thieves from stealing it? No. The case closes just fine without it so why?!
I'm referring to this (sorry for the low quality pic) @ ![]() |

I have no idea but they annoy me, especially if you have a film you watch a lot it the tab gets really loose and doesn't snap back well.

I always wondered why some cases had those locks, Disney uses them a lot and lately they tear them off before sealing the shrink wrap.

I could see it making it a bit harder for thieves when closed, only a bit. Instead of one move cut and swipe, it would make it 2 moves. ![]() |

I think the reason, from what I recall, was to prevent someone from slicing the shrinkwrap on the side of the case and slipping the disc out. From what I remember stores used to find product which, based on a cursory view, looks not tampered with but in fact has a slit on the side and the discs were removed.

The clasps are just for extra protection, from children and for transport, a BD is less likely to fly out when the clasp is down. They're not going to stop an adult from opening a case, although it did take me 10 minutes to open my first BD that came in one, as I'm used to opening BDs without looking at the case! |
