Default hdmi 1.3 cable ???

i was on monoprice and saw that they are now offering a hdmi 1.3 cable. is that really necessary. i thought it was a digital connection and as long as it gets the signals its ok? what would the benefit of a 1.3 cable be opposed to a regular hdmi cable

If it lists as a cat2 cable it has been tested at the new spec. It for the most part does not matter unless you are running long lengths. So it should not matter but if you notice problems with your 1.3 equiptment then change to the tested cable. Remember that with the 1.3 spec they did double the bandwidth. So some poorly made cables might have problems.
