35mm prints of films which are not in the public domain are not for sale. They all belong to the studio and they only get leased to theatres for exhibition. Anybody who were to own a 35mm print of Back to the Future apart from Universal Studios would be breaking the law.

For argument's sake, let's say you had a copy of the film in your possession. What would be your next step? Do you even have access to any sort of telecine equipment? Or was your plan to start a new thread for every step of the process? |

Also, a release print of a 30-year-old film is not only going to have a full theatrical run's worth of wear and tear, but also 30 years of aging and possible deterioration.
There's a reason why home video transfers are made from the original negatives except in the most dire of circumstances. |
