It's only 2.0 lossy DTS! Insult to injury it's @384kbps, which is half the 768 rate that filters the high frequencies above 15kHz, one reason the studios almost always use DD for lossy stereo!
Paramount gave Ferris Bueller, which has a similar sound design, a 5.1 TrueHD remix. I would understand if they didn't remix it 5.1 but at least lossless! Warner does DTS-MA 1.0 and 2.0! The transfer itself looks pretty old, but at least it isn't DNR'ed. It's also on a BD-50, the feature is in AVC, 24GB. A poor effort which is an insult to the late John Hughes. ![]() ![]() Uncle Buck Blu-ray Uncle Buck Blu-ray Review Last edited by Scottie; 04-10-2017 at 12:14 AM. |

I was going to start a thread about this movie as I have been thinking about getting this on Blu-ray. I don't have this on Dvd or Blu-ray. I might have it on VHS but I don't think I do.
Anyways what are the bonus stuff on this new Blu-ray. Also I thought there was a Dvd that came with this Blu-ray? But when I looked again I did not notice any Dvd. Does this Blu-ray come with a standard Dvd? |

Well, I have no problem buying a vlaue priced Blu-ray as long as the picture quality is halfway decent on a 32" HDTV. But, judging from the reviews I have read about, and not just on Blu-ray.com, that everyone is slamming the audio quality like a bad rock.

That indicates Universal just did not care about dumping it on Blu-ray without any oversight. People do not seem to understand that including a stereo PCM soundtrack would have cost nothing extra at all. Now to hear a 5.1 mix already exists is shocking and shows the indifference that Universal treats their Blu-rays.

I enjoyed "Uncle Buck," but it's not one of my favorite movies...I was contemplating picking this up since it's relatively cheap, but based on what I've read so far about the quality (which is typical of Universal), I'd rather save the $10 and apply it towards another title.
