Plaion just released the 1989 mini series AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS on 2 Blu-ray Discs, including 2 German audio tracks, English audio, German and English subtitles.
The discs are in a digipack covered in a double-walled slipcase.

Sounds like a real HD transfer too, might be worth the effort to import.

Does anyone know anything about the video quality? Is it an upscale or true HD?

It is true HD and the quality is quite good.

The only negative thing I observed was that the English audio seems very slightly out of sync in the last five minutes of Part 1. It's less than a quater of a second, but it was to me noticable nevertheless.

Just got his by chance as I found the old DVD that was released to tie into the Jackie Chan version. That DVD is the video transfer and while it's OK for what it was I was hoping there was some remaster from the film that happened due to the most recent adaptation.

This 1989 version's HD release was done to tie into the Tennant version.

Looks spectacular!

In terms of screenshots these are somewhat representative but obviously the actual screen image looks better but it gives the general impression:
