Default Burt Bacharach: A Life in Song

Thanx to Mr. Kauffman for the very thoughtful Review. I Rarely see reviews where the Writer goes into such nice detailed Musical Depth. I too "was" a Professional Musician with a Theory Degree and it's nice to read a Review where the Reviewer includes a dissection of Theory etc..

I just wanted to add that I love Mr. Bacharach's Music, and if I were asked (no one has) what makes his beautiful Music "Special," I would likely include Mr. Kauffman's Parameters and add that Mr. Bacharach is one of the Kings of Modulation (going from Memory here). He changes Key so effortlessly and Melodically that somethings you don't even notice. He will use the Circle of 5ths (and more often, 4ths) in the most inventive ways.

He loves Major 6 and Major 9 Chords and will sometimes have all the notes in the Chord represented in the melody, but not as the commonly used Arpeggio like the beautiful Vince Guaraldi tune "Christmastime Is Here" (FMaj7 to Dbaug/Eb).

He also uses Diminished and Augmented Chords brilliantly, and not just the very common Big Band/Early Jazz/Swing/etc. Progression/Pattern of I to Sharp I Chord, as in Fmaj9 to F#diminished 7 (or 9).

My Respect, admiration and Huge Appreciation for Mr. Bacharach is immense. He is quite Truly One Of a Kind.
