Default The Dresden Files.

Anyone else read this series? The fifteenth book in the series came out last year with the sixteenth already in the works.

I'm currently about half way through the forth and have been reading them intermittently over the last couple of years. I really, really, enjoy them.

Jim Butcher isn't exactly a poet but he has a very clear voice, full of wit and laugh out loud humour. All four books have been really well paced, the kind of read that you could easily polish off in a couple of days if you wanted - that may not sound like a positive but as someone who hasn't been a heavy reader since he was a kid, I can find books can be very cloying and heavy and it's nice to read something so light without being fluffy. He creates really fun characters and makes the very most of the fact that books have no budgets - the second book, dealing with werewolves (yay), had some especially epic moments.

Admittedly some of the "it's fantasy but not as you know it" stuff can be a little tired and novel at times but the qualities in all other regards help balance that out. I'd say it's the best Urban Fantasy I've experienced in any medium.
