Default Launch date for Wii

I've heard that the launch date for wii will be sometime in October, however with the game, Red Steel, it says wii launch in November. I'm not ruling out the possiblity that the Wii could launch in November. I'm wondering if Nintendo will launch before Sony so that Nintendo can get a little bit of a head start.

All will be revealed on September 14th at both Japan and US nintendo press shows.

Nintendo does not attend Tokyo Game Show, opting for their own press release show.

Nintendo will price the Wii and inform the date of launch in this press release. It's about time that people know.

I suspect that launch will be some time in November, possibly late October.

Nintendo did attend the Tokoyto Game Show last year, but that was to reveal the top secret controller for the Wii. So September 14th is the day that we will know about the price and launch date for Wii. There are some other loose ends about the Wii:

1) What about the SD memory card that was annouced at E3 of 2005?
2) What about the self contained attachment to play regular DVD movies on the Wii?
3) How will the Wii remotes be recharged?

I was reading in the paper today that Nintendo expects to ship 4 MILLION Wii's by year's end.

Coming from Nintendo? I can believe it. They cut off Cube productions months ago, so I think it can be done.

Nintendo has never had this shortage BS happen to them.

Add to that that all of the parts that are used in the Wii are either left over from the Gamecube and/or readily available as there is no "groundbreaking" parts used in the Wii and I see it happening too.

I think that the Wii is very easy to mass produce. The gamecube goes until the end of this year and that is it for the gamecube. Likewise with the ps2, there will be games coming out until the end of next year so the gamecube has a little bit of a shorter life cycle.

Isn't ps3 fully backwards compatible anyways? I know Wii is so there isn't much risk on releasing a few titles after the Wii has come out.

Sony has claimed that the ps3 is backwards compatible with ps2 and ps1 games, but hasn't put out a list on any games that won't work on the console. On this forum, I have heard that the ps1 and ps2 games that don't work on the ps3 are the ones that no one cares about.

Sony made two different models of the ps2. The old one has a slide out disc tray and the new one has a tray that pops up like on the gamecube. The only problem that I have ever had is when using a gameshark, certain kinds only work on certain models and when using a multi tap, again, only certain ones work with certain models. I think that if ps1 and ps2 games don't work on the ps3, it will be very rare. I was hoping that we wouldn't have to think about this issue because if you make a ps3, can't you have every ps1 and ps2 game work?

I bought and paid for my Wii today! Ordered Zelda + Metal Slug Anthology for it.

To be honest I'm not even sure the Wii is going to work with the TV set up in my games room(every house needs a games room). The TV is 3 feet away from my noggin, people have said Wii only works 6 feet away from the TV. How lame. And I ain't rearranging everything just for a console I'll hardly play.

But I buy everything. To be honest as some of you may tell most of the hype is wasted on me. Sure Red Steel is.. OK, but Resistance on PS3 and Gears of War on 360 is where the shooting action is this christmas. So I didn't buy that, or a bunch of other titles.

From dvdboxoffice, but you can get the Kiwi edition all over New Zealand.

But the Kiwi edition won't play my US Gamecube games, so I gotta go US.
