Default Get a Region 2 Player from Amazon.uk?

I am finally breaking down and getting a region 2 player. I live in the US.

My question: Is it better (as in, a better chance of getting a reliable player) to buy a player from Amazon.uk or to get a modified player on the US Amazon?

I am looking at the Samsung BD-F5100 at Amazon.uk and it seems like it would fit the bill for what I'm after.

On the US Amazon site, I was looking at the Samsung BD-F5700E.

I am hesitant to buy a region 2 player in the US because, from many things I have been reading, it seems that I would basically be buying a hacked player that may or may not play the discs as advertised.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would be surprised if Amazon would ship to you, as the U.S. Site won't ship electronics to the UK where I'm based?

I have had chipped and region based players

Region hacks are ok and chipped but you still need to change the region on blu ray every time you want to use a different region, unlike the old dvd hacks which would basically make the player region 0

I'm a Panny man myself so picked up a unit when I was last in the states, makes things nice and easy and players are so cheap now, go for it as it opens up the possibilities which ever side of the pond you are on

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that Amazon wouldn't ship electronics to the U.S. I suppose I'll need to go the route of getting a player in the U.S. that I know I'll be able to hack.

Amazon.uk leads to nowhere and we're talking about region B, as far as Blu-ray players go.

For those who may be terribly, terribly, confused, the web address is http://www.amazon.co.uk

Entering "amazon.uk" will lead you into the darkest recesses of the universe.

I bought ,a few years ago, a cheap region B player through Amazon.UK and several titles and I have been very happy with it. Don't forget to buy an outlet adapter for the player so you can plug it in! I have a small handful of region B titles that I love and I love the fact that I have options now in purchasing titles with alternative editions.

I'd like to know how this works out for you OP.

I just bought some BR's through Amazon UK, but they were Region Free ones. There are quite a few discs I'd rather get from Region 2 quite simply because they don't exist in Region 1, and waiting for what might be forever definitely sux. Some of their steelbook over there are nice as well. Some are non-existent over here.

You are much better off buying a player from a US retailer. Sears has a very good price on one. See here:
