If Warner Bros are supporting both BR & HDDVD how come they have released some films only on HDDVD??
eg: Adventures of Robin Hood, Batman Begins, Casablanca, Constantine, Excalibur, Forbidden Planet, Matrix trilogy, Poseidon & V for Vendetta. I know that these films would kick a## on BR. |

well those are the most anticipated titles that WB has to offer ok well most of them but still would you settle for just 5.1 Dolby Digital or would you rather have the whole PCM? and also one thing that bugs me is why does Hd-Dvd have a better audio quality then Blu-Ray version of happy feet?

I dont know the answer, but I seem to remember that a few months ago, the guy (dont remember his name) that was the VP of High Def Home Video for WB (not sure what the exact title was) left the company. As it turns out, before joining WB, he had worked at Toshiba for 19 years. All I got to say is: Things that make you go hmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!

(but why does Warner care about... ![]() |

Those are all titles that have been released a while ago right ?
Maybe Warner was pro HD-DVD earlier but is now shifting towards Blu as now everything is equally released on both formats now ... |

If that's the case, assuming that's the case, then good for them. They could easily release bare bones versions and then pull a double dip with a 1.1 version with all the nifty extras. At least it appears for now it would be a one time purchase with all of the good stuff intact.

In the early days, Warner leaned heavily towards red, it is thought mainly because of their VP of Hi-Def, Steve Nickerson, a former employee of Toshiba. With his departure, that stance seems to be changing, and we should start seeing those titles.

![]() This is the correct answer. When the HD-DVDs were released, they had special features on them (PiP and/or internet capabilities). Since Blu-Ray has taken over a year to bring any players that support profile 1.1 (with PiP) and BD-Live, it would be pointless for WB to release these movies with these features on Blu-Ray. Thus, WB has been waiting for BD to release these feature-rich players to play their included features. WB has already announced that they will catch up to the HD-DUD titles on Blu. Unfortunately, they will probably be ports and the video/audio quality will be the same as their HD-DUD counterparts. I HOPE that WB will go Blu exclusive in the coming weeks and that they will do all new encodes (at least on the audio side) to provide their Blu releases with high bit-rate video and lossless audio. I am specifically waiting on The Matrix, Batman Begins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. |

I read that WB was underwhelmed in the # of HD disk sold on the two big titles and was going to wait untill the install base was larger. It is larger now and Matrix would be a great seller for gamers, like me.

I think Batman Begins will likely hit on Blu-Ray around the time that The Dark Knight hits the theaters. I hope we don't have to wait until The Dark Knight hits Blu-Ray too (like we had to do with the Spidey trilogy).
