Default Poor picture quality Blu-rays

Not trying to complain too much here , but why are studios either rushing out films or putting out films that have poor picture quality (and A.Q. if applies).

I mean, this is BLU-RAY afterall, not DVD. I find most blu rays to have great P.Q. but some I just shake my head at. I just wonder if the studios shouldn't put more effort into some of these instead of giving us these low quality blu-rays.

I also understand the picture/audio quality is head and shoulders about DVD but these blu ray films should be "special", not blah!

For example, what about the Fugitive or Unbreakable. I understand the fugitive is an old film but come on. Don't bring it out yet if it's not polished up to look like a blu ray should. I love unbreakable and know it's still a good quality blu ray but for such a great title couldn't they have done a little bit better job?

I got a headache right now so maybe I'm just taking it out on the poor quality blu rays.?!

The poorest quality BLU i've personally seen is Bram Stokers Dracula and its a shame cause i've read that the director (Francis Ford Coppola) did this ON PURPOSE to make the film appear that it is as old as the time period in the film! (1800's). PLUS...I really like this movie!

The absolute Worst I have seen is "Rio Bravo" (Warner Bros.). IMO it is a complete waste of polycarbonate

Why not? You'll probably buy it anyways and then they can release a remastered version which you'll probably also buy because the first release annoyed you. I did, and Phantom of all movies - it's a musical and Warner released it with a DD5.1 track and their end credits having an often higher bitrate than the rest of the movie.

Warner seems to be the worst for this given they're still releasing VC-1<20 and DD5.1. And they double dipped and cheated the quality on their blurays throughout the format war too, so why people were so pro Warner then is beyond me.

Maybe they'll catch on and start consistently releasing AVC>25 and a lossless track on blurays sometime in the next few years.

Out of my collection? 28 Days later lol. Just lol.

Of course, it was directors intent, it was shot with a k-mart camcorder, yadda yadda, still looks gross. I love the movie tho :P

I totaly agree with you thunda! I usely buy 2-3 BD's a week, and that sucks you said unbreakable has poor pq, thats one of the bds I bought this week along with coyote ugly and the gameon hd-dvd for 13.25, but now that I know unbreakable's pq is poor I might just return it back to bb and get another bd, I think the pq on saw 3 is horrible. I'm sorry I expect alot from Blu-ray movies, we buy the players 300-500 and the bds 25-35 and the hdmi cord 40-100, we really should be getting our money's worth. sorry guys I don't mean to complain but I'm glad thunda brought this subject up.

Terminator 2 is the worst in my collection. However, it's still noticably better than the "Extreme" DVD when I A/B'd them.

However, this title is just begging for a re-release with a new transfer/encode and lossless audio track.
