Default Curiosity: How do you all organize your Marvel Universe Blu's on your shelves?

I was looking through my collection, my collection is arranged in order of Genre... so it has a natural flow to it. I have nearly 3000 titles (BLu and DVD)

but looking at the MCU stuff, im not sure how to arrange them... because on my shelves i have movies and their sequels right next to each other: So it goes: Iron Man...Iron Man 2... Iron Man 3

but those movies really dont flow together, because of the universe's continuity between movies.

so right now i have them in order like this:
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3
Thor
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy

BUT, since these are continuing stories, and if you are trying to watch the story as it progresses, it should go like this:

Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
and so on...!

Just wondering how you all organize these titles on your shelves!

It goes in line with a question i had yeasrs and years ago which was: How do you watch Star Wars (if you were going to watch all 6 movies)... do you go Ep 4-5-6-1-2-3 or do you go in order Ep 1-2-3-4-5-6?!

I just had some time on my hands and figured id ask!

Mine looks like this:

Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy

Iron Man came first so that and its sequels are kept together and so on.

Order of release...

Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Captain America: The First Avenger
Thor
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Guardians Of The Galaxy

After all, if I'm going to have to "enlighten" guests who have never seen any of them, or who have only seen a few of them, we can do it in an order that properly reveals the building blocks of the cinematic universe as was intended by the studios... or fill in the blanks in as much of an order as possible if they've only seen some of the films.

Default My chronology is kind of weird

I have Ang Lee's Hulk first (I know it's not officially cannon but it tells a Hulk origin story that doesn't really contradict anything that comes later so I keep it in there)
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Captain America (this only fits because of the book ends in the movie, could also be first in line)
Thor
Avengers
Thor 2 (I keep these last 3 together for a sort of Loki trilogy)
Iron Man 3
Cap 2
Guardians of the galaxy (I will probably end up flexing this one into phase 3 as it is so much different than everything else in phase 2)

I also thought of this cuz: the more recent mcu titles have had Steelbook releases from best buy... it ruins the flow having a slipcover, steelvook, slipcover, steelbook... but if they were arranged in orser of release, the steelbooks would all be lined up and look spiffy!

In the sci-fi/space opera section of my shelf:
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 3D

In the superhero section of my shelf:
  • The Incredible Hulk (I believe I placed it directly after the 2003 Hulk)
  • Iron Man / Iron Man 2 Steelbook
  • Thor Steelbook
  • Captain America: The First Avenger Steelbook
  • Avengers UK Steelbook
  • Avengers US 3D
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: The Dark World 3D
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier 3D

Avengers: Age of Ultron Steelbook is on order and will sit next to CA: TWS. Ant-Man will probably come after all of them too.

I keep them separate from the main collection, and in release order.

I have limited shelf space now, with deep shelves on a TV stand that I double up rows, so not everything is showing. It may get annoying to have to remove movies to see what's behind it, but the system is designed to know what's behind the front row.

Showing in the front are the first movies and behind them are the sequels.

Color coordination is the key to a great-looking bookshelf.

Darks go with darks.

Yellows and cream colors together.

Reds together.

...and so on and so forth.

I simply refuse to mix colors, even if it means separating different works by the same director.

This, with the slight modification that I put Guardians before Winter Soldier. It follows from Dark World's post-credit scene, and Winter Soldier is a better lead-in to Age of Ultron, so the flow is a bit better I think. (Also Cap 1 was released after Thor 1.)

Same here. I contemplated doing something different, but for now they are just mixed in with everything else. I know the order they came out in so that isn't a problem.

The only Disney/Marvel universe I have is Guardians of the Galaxy, and as that is a steelbook I keep it with my other steelbooks.

Not really a fan of the Avengers. They've over-saturated the market IMO.

So far, I've kept all the MCU films in two multi-disc cases, omitting DVD and digital-copy discs. Phase One has 8 discs, and Phase 2 has four so far; that case has two empty slots for "Age of Ultron" and "Ant-Man". If those releases get more than solo discs, I'll have to transfer all of Phase 2 to a higher-capacity case.

I have most of the X-Men films in one case, except for "Days of Future Past" - there's simply no room. I may have to split them between two cases, with "Apocalypse" on the horizon.

The other non-MCU films in my collection are just placed where they belong, under the proper letter like D for Daredevil, or P for Punisher. "Agents of SHIELD" is with my TV shows.

The majority of my collection is by director, then by actor, So Iron Man 1-3 is all together, which leads into Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, then into RDJ titles, then into Sherlock Holmes which goes into my Guy Ritchie section.

Hulk is with my Ang Lee collection, with Incredible Hulk next to it.

Captain America is with my Joe Johnston Collection, with Winter Soldier next to it.

Thor is in my Kenneth Brannagh collection, Dark World next to it.

Avengers is next to my Serenity and Firefly steelbooks

Guardians is next to Slither and Dawn of the Dead, which leads into my Zack Snyder collection.

Iron Man, Captain America 1 and 2, and Thor 1 and 2 are all Blufans Lenticular Steels, and GOTG is on the way. Currently have GOTG Best buy steel. Hulk and Incredible Hulk are both the Reel Heroes Steels (and I have Hulk on HDDVD!) and I will get the IH Blufans when it's released. Iron Man 2 and 3 were just the standard amarays. but I put them in a three disc case
1-3 and have the Iron Man 1 slip over it.

My wife has little clue where anything is, so she just asks me. All my Disney and animated titles are on two separate shelves so that's usually where she goes anyway if she and my daughter are watching something when I'm not home.

Oh yeah and I have the phase one briefcase on my box set shelf.

If you want all Marvel, Spidey trilogy steel is in my Sam Raimi collection, ASM 1&2 are in the ASM 2 Future Shop steel next to the trilogy steel (they match up pretty good)

X-Men 1, 2, and DOFP are in my Bryan Singer collection, X-Men 3 is with my Brett Ratner titles, and First Class is in my Matthew Vaughn section.

Wolverine is in The Wolverine case (sold the DVD separately), Elektra is with Daredevil which is in my Ben Affleck section. Ghost Rider 1 and 2 are there as well. My Blade trilogy is with my Guillermo del Toro collection.

What am I missing...
