Well a local store has a few left in Blu. I was looking at it at lunch and noticed only DD 5.1 tracks is it worth the upgrade or should i wait 18 months or so to get it when its released back on Blu

guess that depends how much you like the movie. I got it free when I got my HDDVD player last year for a gift (Came in the box). It's a fun movie with great PQ & sound IMO, regardless of the "specifications".

were you looking at the DVD, or BR? ("when its released back on Blu"). If it's the BR, i wonder if there ever will be another version w/HD audio. w/that said, I really dig the BR - I bought it never seeing the movie in any form, and the surround tracks seem great to me.

I have this one too. The PQ is awesome. The audio is great too. Since it's a Paramount release, who knows how long it could be before you see it again. I say, if you like the move, it's worth the purchase now if it's Blu-Ray.

I enjoy the movie. It's pretty silly at times, but an overall good entertaining flick.

Is this the same Sahara with Steve Zahn & Penelope Cruz? I have only been Blu for 3 months, but I must have missed this one. Is it out on Blu ray disc?

Amazon had it for 19.95. My step daughter loves this movie (that's my story and I am sticking to it ). I am still new to some of this, but correct me if I am wrong. Paramount (among others) released some movies in both formats then pulled back and stopped release on Blu such as Shooter?

If PQ plays an important part to your BD buying decision then yes, pick it up. I thought the movie was just OK. Without Steve Zahn this movie would have been horrible IMHO, but he plays his role perfectly.

Its worth a double dip. Pq is really good, lots of action and great scenery. If you can get one then do so because once they're gone thats it. Who knows if Para***** will re-release it later after Dud dies a horrible blu death.

This title will also be coming to Blu-Ray in Japan in February together with U-571.

No specs as of yet but hope to have them soon.

Sahara is on sale at CDJapan for $17.97. It's an AVC encode with English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio so those looking for a better version may wanna grab it while it's on sale. It is backordered but at that price for a import Japanese Blu-ray is very good!! Too bad Aeon Flux and Sky Captain are still $59.99!! I would LOVE to upgrade those titles!

I'm still wondering if Bogart's Sahara will ever make it to BD.

That's what I thought too. Figured (hoping) it was for Zoltán Korda's Sahara. I've never even heard of the film this thread is actually about.

Damn that guy for bumping this thread.

The TV movie remake with Jim Belushi is also worth watching. It may not be as good as the original, but it's darn close.

This is such an underrated movie that is in need of a remaster or 4K release. It's one of my favourite action adventure movies, full of gorgeous scenery, strong action scenes and a really likeable cast. As a pure old school adventure movie it is absolutely terrific.
