Wait, is the movie that bad!?
Sixteen out of eighteen comments under the release date announcement on the home page are people saying how bad it was.

I'm a big fan of Payne but it is pretty mediocre. Not outright horrible or anything though imo.

I don't really get the hate for this one. The trailers and marketing were misleading, so it's not quite the comedic sci-fi film you might expect, but it's not terrible by any means. It tries to delve into too many ideas by the end and comes off a bit shallow for most of them, but I still found the movie to be just fine.

I'll pick up this blu when the price inevitably drops.

Someone get Hong Chau a script worthy of her. She was BY FARRRRR the best thing in this clunker.

Whoa! I couldn't even finish this movie, it's that bad. I think I made it about an hour in. Truly, just plain awful. The worst satire of its kind, every joke progressively became worse & worse and I just couldn't take anymore after 45min-an hour.

How could this be from the same guy who brought us Sideways and Descendants?!? I'm afraid to watch this!

I liked the first hour of the movie and after that it got boring. Not what I was expecting from the previews. I miss rounders Matt Damon.

Will be watching Downsizing this weekend, as I've seen all of Payne's films, but I've definitely tempered my expectations.

....they totally ran out of ideas. Well not actually, they found plenty of horrible ideas and added them all.

I honestly do not know, I love both those films too. Election is one of my fav. 90s films & About Schmidt, Nebraska and Citizen Ruth are great also. Whatever happened here is something Payne should never try and duplicate again.
