Default Hooking up old Bose head unit and old Bose woofer to brand new Bose outdoor speakers

We recently dug up our old Bose sound system that hasn't been used in 6+ years..

It only has a head unit and a woofer, but they both work.

So we bought brand new Bose outdoor speakers, and called Boss support to see what we had to do.

They told us that we needed to buy an expensive amplifier.

However, the woofer has an amplifier inside of it, so we figured that we could somehow use the woofer as an amplifier.

How would we do that?

I imagine the subwoofer is powered, meaning the amplifier only powers the woofer inside the box. I hope this helps.

BTW, what us the head unit model # you are referring to?

I just found THIS regarding your particular subwoofer unit.

You may not be able to use any other speakers than what the system originally came with.

You "could" use that if you created your own RCA ended speaker wire.

But, the DSP will probably not match anything but 2.5" paper cone.

I'd throw the whole thing away and buy real audio.

Thanks for the help, guys. We went to the Bose store at the mall, and discussed it with a guy there.

We decided it would be better to just put the head unit and subwoofer back into storage, and buy a reciever.

Or, you could find an empty field and go all "Office Space" on it with a baseball bat...
