Quote:
"A Wrinkle in Time," from acclaimed director Ava DuVernay, comes home May 29 on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD and Movies Anywhere and June 5 on Blu-ray™, 4K Ultra HD™, DVD and On-Demand. The stunning story of an ordinary girl's extraordinary adventure through time and space offers exhilarating entertainment and positive messages for the whole family-encouraging self-confidence, inclusion and pushing imagination to the next level.

Families who bring home "A Wrinkle in Time" will go behind the scenes to meet the talented crafts persons, actors and filmmakers who brought to life every spectacular detail of this triumphant tale. Bonus material includes an extended featurette providing inside access to the A-list cast and crew; insightful audio commentary from director Ava DuVernay and team; deleted scenes; bloopers; and two music videos, including "I Believe" performed by GRAMMY®-nominated music mogul DJ Khaled and featuring GRAMMY®-nominated singer-songwriter Demi Lovato.

More than 50 years after Madeleine L'Engle's young adult novel "A Wrinkle in Time" was awarded the prestigious Newbery Medal, the big-screen retelling of this TIMELESS classic takes audiences on a transformative journey, exquisitely illustrated through jaw-dropping visual effects, a stirring musical score and diverse, star-studded cast. Three celestial guides, Mrs. Which (two-time Academy Award® nominee Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Oscar®, Golden Globe® and Emmy® winner Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Emmy nominee Mindy Kaling), come to Earth to share their wisdom and love with struggling eighth-grader Meg Murry (Storm Reid) as she journeys across dimensions with classmate Calvin (Levi Miller) and younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) in search of her father (Chris Pine), a world-renowned physicist who mysteriously disappeared four years ago.

As fantastical as the film's premise and imagery may seem, "A Wrinkle in Time" centers on a universal human need that feels particularly relevant and relatable today. "This is a story about belonging," says DuVernay. "It's about a girl who just doesn't feel strong in her mind, body and spirit. But through this epic journey, she finds her strength and learns that the center of the universe starts inside her. It's about Meg feeling like she belongs in the universe and has a mighty part to play... as do we all."

The multi-screen border looks especially hideous on this already ugly cover

It’s a Wal-Mart quality cover for a Wal-Mart quality film.

Wow, what a hideous cover. If you gave me really nice packaging, you could have tricked me into buying this mediocre film. But, I think I'll pass.

Agreed. This trend of putting as many actors/things on these covers/posters really has to stop. It doesn't work for every movie.

If the image is anything to go by, it removed the multi screen stuff because they removed the digital code? It also says it comes out Sept 12th instead, which isn't even a Tuesday lol Not with the 4K so it makes no difference to me since it wouldn't be what I'd get. I'm surprised nobody is offering a free copy of the book with it anywhere, you'd think that'd be the natural choice of an exclusive for a film based on a book.

Was browsing the upcoming new releases on this site when I saw the "Walmart Exclusive" version for this film. Not that I want this movie (cause it's trash) but it's annoying to see Walmart release two Disney titles without a digital and pass that off as an exclusive. As far as I can tell, they aren't doing it for any other upcoming release from other Studios, but just Disney. It was probably too late to change marketing for this title, but hopefully the backlash they received from Black Panther will cause them to cease this idiotic practice.

Target/Best Buy are about a 40 minute drive away, while I have a Walmart that's just 2 minutes away that stays open until 1am. It's quite convenient to go into at Midnight to buy new releases. By the time Avengers: Infinity War arrives, I hope this "Blu-ray only" crap Walmart is trying to pull has been dropped.

It's partly because Wal-Mart now sells standalone digital download codes for movies. The section at my local store, which has worthless strips of paper for $19.99, is bigger than the DVD/Blu-ray section now.

Is it really? At my local stores they have a few rows but nowhere near as many digital copies as physical, not even close. It must have something to do with Walmart owning Vudu.

My location usually has those preorder cards near the "new release" end cap area, but they also have a three sided display nearby with one of the sides dedicated to just older digital cards. It doesn't appear anyone ever buys any of them, which why should they, not when the Blu-ray combo packs for the same price are just sitting across from them.

But do these CEO's or whoever is in charge of marketing honestly believe consumers will pay $20+ for the Blu-ray and then grab the digital card for an additional $20? After leaving disappointed that midnight for Black Panther's release, I stopped by that same Walmart later in the week to pick up some items and walking by electronics, hardly any of their inventory had been touched. Usually at this location, new releases sell out or at least get close. For Black Panther, nothing. It appeared they had nearly the same amount of BR's as when I saw the Walmart Associate putting out product at Midnight. lmao.

The only positive thing to these "Walmart Exclusives" is the removal of all that multi-screen text and logo.... but I would gladly take all of that and more plastered on the cover if it included a digital copy with it. As much as I would be annoyed with the artwork being compromised for marketing, I'm mainly buying for the Blu-ray and the Digital. That is something I don't want compromised.
