Johnny Mnemonic - Unrated On Blu-ray, Any News?

One of the movies I have been wanting to get for an age now is Johnny Mnemonic.

I have however been wanting to get the Unrated edition that was released onto DVD only in Japan.

I have always held off buying it on DVD as I always assumed a Special Edition would be sooner or later be released in the US/UK with the unrated edition on it.

Alas this never occured.

It seems like Blu-Ray would be the perfect chance to bring this one out how it should have been.

Does anyone have any news if it could be in the pipeline for a 2008 release. Or what the chances are if it does ever come out it it will be the Unrated version that is released. Or are we perminanty stuck with the less well received Theatrical version.

Worse comes to worse just buy the Japanese Blu-ray whenever it surfaces

I'm surprised this hasn't been released on blu-ray in North America, especially since it had 4 DVD releases in North America.

IMAGE/SONY is releasing it on June 14th on Blu ray.

There's now a limited edition double blu-ray set over in Europe. well Germany specifically (only 500 made according to the sticker on the back I just got, but not selling too fast I guess seeing it came out a year ago, i.e. 2017).

The first disc has Dolby Atmos English and German (fallback to Dolby TrueHD 7.1 or less if you don't have an Atmos receiver) and a 2.0 stereo track on an EXTENDED version of the film (2 hours, 5 minutes long instead of 97 minutes!!!), film commentary, two film trailers, interviews and a music video.

It also has the aforementioned Japanese Unrated version with 6 extra minutes of footage in Standard Definition (i.e. the DVD version from Japan) with English 2.0 and German 2.0 on it (no Japanese language tracks).

The second disc has Auro 3D 9.1 English and German soundtracks (fallback to DTS Master HD 5.1 if you don't have an Auro 3D capable receiver) and a DTS 2.0 track that is sound effects and music ONLY (no dialog).

Plus it comes with a Cyberpunk & Film Production booklet (albeit in German).

It wasn't exactly cheap (no 4K, just two 2K Blu-Rays), but you can get it from Amazon Germany while supplies last (mine is marked #373 of 500).
