I have a number of region locked titles and have been waiting to buy a region free player. My understanding was that region modifications that are done via hardware are the way to go as ones such as this could be "corrected" via a simple online update.
Could someone explain if this is not the case with this and if so why? |

Seiki has never issued any firmware updates for any of their blu-ray players to date, so you won't have to worry about the region free capability being extinguished. However, some have reported that their first model (BD660) will not play some newer titles. I have both the previous model (SR212S) and both play everything so far.
