Default Sony BDV-E370 & Pansonic TV ARC

Hi,

I have a Sony BDV-E370 combined BluRay & Surround System with HDMI Output only.

I am using an Apple TV4 with HDMI output only to my TV and I currently use passthrough optical to send audio back to the Sony BDV-E370. The only problem is that as we all know, Optical will not out put full DTS HD/MA audio tracks. I am playing files from Plex/Infuse.

My Panasonic TV has an HDMI ARC port - If I switch on ARC on the Sony can it send audio back from the TV to the Sony HDMI even though on the unit it says HDMI out? It has no HDMI input ports.

I've tested with some HDMI cables I already have however I've been unable to get this to work - I think they may be 1.3 cables which are not ARC compatible so my next step is to get a 1.4 or 2.0 cable to test.
