I'd bet my life on a Steelbook (or 3) being on the way for this. Can't wait.

Isn't this like two and a half hours long? That's crazy for this kind of movie.

The running time, isn't exactly making me run to see it, either.

Either it'll whizz by, or drag like f*** and I'm not risking it, as I don't really like the first one.

I'm wondering that too, I expected 100 mins tops but I did enjoy the 1st one (some of the action was amazing) so looking forward to seeing it

I saw this on Tuesday with a intro and q+a with Gareth Evans, Rama and Mad Dog! They all very kindly signed the attached. Chuffed with that! As far as the film goes, it is quite slow for the first half with a few action scenes scattered around, but the last hour is phenomenal! Seriously some of the best fight scenes ever!

I think I need to rewatch the first one, didn't think much of it the first time around.

This finally opens in the U.S. on Friday and it's a bit of a wider release than expected, since it's showing at the AMC and Carmike Cinema's, instead of just the Lagoon Cinema, an art house theater. So this gives me a better chance to see the film, and I can't wait! I hope it's good, but am a bit concerned about the running time like some are, but will give it a fair chance. I've avoided all spoilers for the film so far, and haven't watched any of the trailers besides a short teaser.

Devastated I couldn't see this at the cinemas the other day.
Whaaaaaa!?
How could you not like "Raid Redemption", imo it is the best action flick since "Enter The Dragon".

I could see someone who didn't like action movies not liking it.

Or someone that's bored shitless by ten minute long fight scenes.

I'm actually looking forward to part 2, now. I've seen some of the stuff Madman have put out on youtube, to promote the film in Australia and it's gotten me interested. I think its a Dad and me movie and I know he'll want to revisit the first one before going to see this one, even though he wasn't fussed on it, either.

Regardless of the 150 minutes run time, I do plan to see this. The first movie was absolute nuts! Loved it.

me2 i thought it became very repetitive and over choreographed. Will give it another go tho, the sequel looks promising

That was the best action movie since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark. No kidding. Halfway in I was thinking we have the next John Woo. After the credits it was that this director is miles above John Woo. I actually could not believe what I saw. I cannot wait to own this movie. Yes, it is long and in another language. It did not seem long at all. If you even have a passing interest in martial art movies, then you owe it to yourself to see this on the big screen.

A Better Tomorrow, Hard boiled, The Killer ect are not martial arts movies. Not sure it's fair to compare directly to The Raid which director is 'better'.

I pretty much loved it, like I did the first. Didn't feel the run time at all.

My expanded thoughts are in the video, but it's a solid 8/10 action movie.

You are probably correct, but the Raid is closer to those than to any Bruce Lee movie. I have heard them referred to as 'gun-fu.' Suffice it to say that my opinion, for what it is worth, is that the Raid 2 is the pinnacle of that type of genre. No disrespect to Mr. Woo.

Saw it last night, it was awesome, definitely some of the best and most brutal fight scenes ever filmed. It did remind me of Hard boiled and movies like that, with some gun fights and a great car chase aswell as the brilliant fight scenes.

The plot has a lot more going on compared to part 1 and it does an ok job of getting us from start to finish, but lets be honest, we go to watch the Martial Arts and Action (the plot is a distant 2nd with these types of movies) and on that front The Raid 2 delivers in a big way.

As for the film being long, well don't let it put anyone off, it didn't feel like 148 minutes, it flew by for me. I enjoyed it that much, I'm thinking of going to watch it again.
