I saw this on Tuesday with a intro and q+a with Gareth Evans, Rama and Mad Dog! They all very kindly signed the attached. Chuffed with that! As far as the film goes, it is quite slow for the first half with a few action scenes scattered around, but the last hour is phenomenal! Seriously some of the best fight scenes ever!

This finally opens in the U.S. on Friday and it's a bit of a wider release than expected, since it's showing at the AMC and Carmike Cinema's, instead of just the Lagoon Cinema, an art house theater. So this gives me a better chance to see the film, and I can't wait! I hope it's good, but am a bit concerned about the running time like some are, but will give it a fair chance. I've avoided all spoilers for the film so far, and haven't watched any of the trailers besides a short teaser.

![]() I'm actually looking forward to part 2, now. I've seen some of the stuff Madman have put out on youtube, to promote the film in Australia and it's gotten me interested. I think its a Dad and me movie and I know he'll want to revisit the first one before going to see this one, even though he wasn't fussed on it, either. That was the best action movie since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark. No kidding. Halfway in I was thinking we have the next John Woo. After the credits it was that this director is miles above John Woo. I actually could not believe what I saw. I cannot wait to own this movie. Yes, it is long and in another language. It did not seem long at all. If you even have a passing interest in martial art movies, then you owe it to yourself to see this on the big screen.

You are probably correct, but the Raid is closer to those than to any Bruce Lee movie. I have heard them referred to as 'gun-fu.' Suffice it to say that my opinion, for what it is worth, is that the Raid 2 is the pinnacle of that type of genre. No disrespect to Mr. Woo.

Saw it last night, it was awesome, definitely some of the best and most brutal fight scenes ever filmed. It did remind me of Hard boiled and movies like that, with some gun fights and a great car chase aswell as the brilliant fight scenes.
The plot has a lot more going on compared to part 1 and it does an ok job of getting us from start to finish, but lets be honest, we go to watch the Martial Arts and Action (the plot is a distant 2nd with these types of movies) and on that front The Raid 2 delivers in a big way. As for the film being long, well don't let it put anyone off, it didn't feel like 148 minutes, it flew by for me. I enjoyed it that much, I'm thinking of going to watch it again. |
