I picked this up toady at my local Wal-Mart, and I noted that all of the slipcovers had a sticker loudly proclaiming that the disc contains "both Original UNCENSORED and FAMILY-FRIENDLY Versions!" on the cover. To Dunham's credit, this is exactly what he and his team have done. When you load the disc, it boots immediately to a two-choice Mommy-and-Me-level-of-easy menu screen, which offers a choice of the two versions. After that, all the Concerned Party has to do is press the "Play" option in the menu.
Now, when this English: DTS-HD MA 5.1 Track of Purity and Virtue is playing, not only do all the Cute, Cute Dolls that the Funny Man plays with not say any Bad Words, but they also don't make any references to Satan's Favorite Bedroom Activities, either. Truly, the innocence of your more sensitive loved ones will remain as pure and white as the first snow of a New England October with this track.
I watched some of the opening Walter segment with this track, and instead of bleeping profanities, Dunham has actually redubbed entire lines and jokes, including replacing most "hell"s with "heck"s, and removing sexual references from the jokes entirely, by switching words like "boobs" with "feet". On the other hand, the redubbing is very well done, and because almost all of the problem content is from the puppets, it is virtually transparent to what is being said live.
But...
there is also the English: DTS-HD MA 5.1 Track of Filth and Vile Garbage, which is ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR CHILDREN, OR THE ELDERLY, OR THOSE WITH WEAK CONSTITUTIONS, because Jeff Dunham's puppets say "f**k" occasionally.
In all seriousness, this is Jeff Dunham, not Lenny Bruce or George Carlin or Richard Pryor. While going to this kind of trouble was probably mainly for the NBC TV broadcast, and while it is true that the special contains a few more salty words later on (particularly during the Jeff Jr. segment), and a few sex references, there really isn't much to fuss over, especially when a bleeped profanity track would have sufficed. Still, in a way, it's a classy move from Dunham, just as long as he doesn't attempt to overly sanitize his specials in the future in the hopes of getting kids into the actual live audience.
Both cuts of the show, as well as the lone "extra" come with optional English SDH subtitles, and from what I viewed. the ones on the family-friendly version follow that dialogue accurately.
The aforementioned "extra" is entitled "'Greetings, Hollywood' Mashup by DJ Steve Porter", which is a video edited from the main show. Running under three minutes, this extra is a complete waste of time, functioning only as both a cheap promotional tool, and a way to ruin many of the highlights of the show. Worse, because it's a "mashup", the footage has been set to a beat, and savagely edited to make it appear that Dunham and his puppets are "singing" the title "song" of the piece. This is a totally horrendous supplement, that was a bad idea in the first place, it should have been left off of the disc.
On a final note, this disc is essentially a BD-25. However, in one of the more bizarre examples of disc encoding I have seen in optical disc home video, it appears that someone has encoded an additional 11.39 GB file onto the disc, which is inaccessible during regular playback. Upon locating the file, I discovered that it is actually the first 45 minutes, 22 seconds of the main show, but without any soundtrack or subtitles. OOPS!
