makes me very happy! wish it as blu ray but i can live with the dvd

Watched with both audio tracks last night. For the most part I'm very happy. If I were to nitpick this release, I would ask for a 1.66:1 transfer (there's a lot of wonderful layout design you're not seeing with this release), and a boost to the color saturation (it's a bit too naturalistic when the colors should really be leaping off the screen IMO). But those are just "if I had done it" personal preferences. They don't constitute "errors" in the current disc.

But there is an error here. For part of the movie, the left and right audio tracks are reversed. You can hear it very clearly from 20:19 - 20:32 when Botch's car ping-pongs from left to right on screen, the backfires and sputters can always be heard from the speaker opposite the action onscreen (it's more noticeable towards the end). Also, at 21:13, when Botch throws his drink off-screen left, we hear it crash only in the right speaker. Oddly, this error can be heard in both audio tracks, but isn't present on the older VHS or LD releases.

I should note that the audio tracks are not reversed throughout the entire film. The train on the trestle at 4:13 - 4:20 pans properly from center to left just as it does visually. I'm not sure just how much of the movie is affected yet. When I've documented more I plan on writing an email to Warner Archive pleading for a fix. This is the first video release this film has received in 24 years, and is likely its last. It would be a shame if it remained botched (no pun intended).
