Too bad you didn't use pawns instead of stars...

About five people are going to see this movie during its initial release.

Unless you play chess, you most likely won't have any idea what the title even means.

I know what the title means, but I have no idea how it's connected to the story of Bobby Fischer in the context of this particular story.

I played tournament chess. Both my wife (who is Japanese, just learning the game of chess from me and a Japanese book written by [coincidently and unknowingly by her] Fisher's Japanese wife, and had no idea of who Fischer was) and I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The acting was well done (I've never been much of a Tobie McGuire fan, but enjoyed his performance.). The film kept our attention riveted to the screen with an interesting and somewhat informative look at Bobby Fischer. Highly recommended.

I'm very much looking forward to this. I'm a casual player (who learned during the 70s craze prompted by these events, actually) but Searching for Bobby Fisher is one of my favorite sports movies (and I'm obviously defining sports movies fairly broadly) so this might right up my alley.

And Liev Schreiber can do no wrong. He was even halfway awesome in Wolverine.

A chess move called "sacrifice" seems to relate pretty well to Fisher's life story, who threw away everything to paranoia and prejudice.

It is absolutely a sports movie. I'm probably seeing this tomorrow. Surprised and impressed how many theaters around here are showing it. Good job by Bleecker Street.
