Moretti's We Have a Pope is out on Blu-ray, but I actually did not enjoy it at all. I would love to see on Blu-ray the two films below which he directed. The Son's Room is probably the best one, and Moretti is sensational in it, but I think that Il Caimano is his most effective one. It is an incredible piece targeting Berlusconi. Quiet Chaos isn't directed by him, but he is in it, with two Italian actresses I really like: Valeria Golino and Isabella Ferrari. Very good film. Moretti's social commentaries could be a bit over the top at times -- as you probably know, he is a very outspoken communist -- but his films really see contemporary Italy as is, a divided country of extreme contrasts. An excellent actor/director. I have not seen Mia Madre yet, but a friend who writes for a French magazine saw it at Cannes and said that it is terrific. Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to Artificial Eye's release ![]() ![]() Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 07-04-2015 at 06:35 PM. |
