Away from the shoot, Margherita tries to hold her life together, despite her mother's illness and her daughter's adolescence. Directed by Nanni Moretti, and starring Margherita Buy, John Turturro, Giulia Lazzarini, and Beatrice Mancini. STREET DATE: DECEMBER 7.

This would be fantastic, Sifox. One of his best films, and in America we actually did not get a DVD release of it.

Moretti's We Have a Pope is out on Blu-ray, but I actually did not enjoy it at all.

I would love to see on Blu-ray the two films below which he directed. The Son's Room is probably the best one, and Moretti is sensational in it, but I think that Il Caimano is his most effective one. It is an incredible piece targeting Berlusconi.

Quiet Chaos isn't directed by him, but he is in it, with two Italian actresses I really like: Valeria Golino and Isabella Ferrari. Very good film.

Moretti's social commentaries could be a bit over the top at times -- as you probably know, he is a very outspoken communist -- but his films really see contemporary Italy as is, a divided country of extreme contrasts. An excellent actor/director.

I have not seen Mia Madre yet, but a friend who writes for a French magazine saw it at Cannes and said that it is terrific. Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to Artificial Eye's release

Independent British distributors Curzon Artificial Eye have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of acclaimed Italian director Nanni Moretti's Mia Madre (2015), starring Margherita Buy, John Turturro, Giulia Lazzarini, Beatrice Mancini, and Nanni Moretti. The release will be available for purchase on December 7.

Synopsis: Palme d'Or winning director Nanni Moretti (The Son's Room, The Caiman, We Have a Pope) returns with Mia Madre, a playful, reflective and intelligent drama. Set in present-day Rome, the story follows Margherita, a filmmaker attempting to balance her work with her family life. Pulled between the demands of a difficult Hollywood actor (John Turturro, in a scene-stealing role), her teenage daughter and the slow decline of her mother's health, she finds herself struggling to hold everything together. But much like the director's profession itself, she must stay in control right until the final call…
