Looks nice!
So this isn't a Zavvi exclusive and should be available on AmazonUK, even better!

Edit: clicked the link, says ZE.

This was one of my dad's favorite movies. I may just have to pick this up in honor of him. He would watch this and Krull quite regularly with me (when I was really young) and I never actually "watched" these movies until after he passed away a few years ago. I would love if they did a steel for Krull, too.

Sorry about that. I didn't say that when I got the email about it lol.

I really like this movie as well so I'll probably end up getting it. I know a lot of people hate it but I think it really is a decent movie.

AmazonUK has crappy packaging. I would even say that their packaging is worse than the packaging by zavvi.

Amazon Germany has the proper packaging.

For as long as I can remember UK and Germany have been using the same double boxed packaging.
Even if the packaging was the exact same as Zavvi, I would go with Amazon for two reasons:

1) VAT subtraction lowers the price
2) CS that is a billions times better than Zavvi CS(that's assuming they actually have any)

This is true. Amazon.co.uk isn't that bad.

My experience is the exact opposite.

Amazon France 007 Steelbook ordered -> first one arrives damaged, the plastic holders inside the steelbook are even broken off, thanks to really bad packaging.

Ok, I request a replacement. Can't upload photos, just write something. Oh nice, they want me to send it back to France (although I ordered tons, I guess I'm not trustworthy). Whatever. Spend 6 EUR on postage, although the steelbook was like 9 EUR.

Replacement comes, sent out after possibly a week. Wrapped in bubble wrap, at least something. But has a huge huge bump on the bottom. Thanks. This means that someone at Amazon took a damaged steelbook, wrapped it up and sent it to me. Ask customer support.

"We only replace one time, we will now fully refund you, but we won't send you any replacement. Have a nice day (*******)".

So now I have a steelbook with a huge bump on the bottom. Haven't paid for it, sure, but I actually wanted a steelbook w/o horrible damages.

Thanks Amazon. Thanks for your "superior" customer support. This was like the first time I asked for a replacement. I even received USED products from Amazon UK sold as NEW, but never asked for a replacement for those.

Zavvi in comparison:

Contact customer support. "Steelbook is damaged, here are some photos, I want a replacement of course". "Replacement was just dispatched" (1 day later).

I even think that there was one time, where they replaced something 2 times for me.

Yep, 100% bizarro world.
I've never had to return anything to an international Amazon, ever. With over 100 orders and only having maybe 4 damaged shipments. Makes sense as it would cost too much to send back.
Also odd that Amazon would make you pay? I've never seen that reported. Are you sending back an inordinate amount of returns? That would explain it.
Zavvi...is just light years behind Amazon. Which is why I only get exclusives from them. Amazingly I've never had a lost or overly damaged shipment from them, but absolutely dread the day when it happens as their CS is among the worst on the planet.
Hell, they can't even create a "Not Avaiable" button on their preorders to avoid confusion.
My relationship with Zavvi will always be love/hate, as I hold my breath on. Every shipment that comes my way.

My Harry Potter steelbook order from Amazon France had 7 of 8 steelbooks arrived dented. They sent out replacement orders (overnighted basically) and asked me to send the damaged ones back. It cost around $50 and Amazon refunded me back immediately after I emailed them a copy of my receipt. I never had them tell me to eat the cost of shipping, if I did have to send something back.

I wouldn't even mind fronting the cost.
Bottom line: for me, Amazon offers much more peace of mind than Zavvi. By a mile!

My steelbook was 9 EUR.
I had to pay postage to France, which was a bit more than 6 EUR.
So about "making sense", well duh.

I got the postage back, but that's not the point. I had to waste my time to send them something which was 100% damaged.

Also I now have a damaged steelbook and that's it. That's kinda silly, isn't it?

And no, I have actually NEVER returned anything before that.
The more amazon CS I have to endure, the more I'm avoiding Amazon whenever I can.

Quote:
Zavvi...is just light years behind Amazon.
Exact opposite in my case.
I can send Zavvi photos. Never had to return anything to Zavvi. They always simply sent replacements to me.

Amazon is the exact opposite. Uploading photos? lol nope. Contacting an actual human being for replacements? lol nope. It seems some algo decides if you are supposed to return it or not.

How can you say that, when you never received a damaged item from Zavvi?

Quote:

Yeah, such a button is such a huge problem.

Amazon on the other hand sells items for WEEKS, then delays shipping for MONTHS and I received a cancellation e-mail just NOW. After I think around 3 MONTHS.

Now THAT is a joke.

Thank god there was a shop in Germany, which sold the German edition of that Limited Edition for even CHEAPER than Amazon UK and actually shipped it after 1 work day.

Yes I believe we have throughly defined our preferences.
Just seems like more folks report Amazon being much easier to deal with than Zavvi...unless I've missed something.
You can have Zavvi all you want.
I will take them only when I absolutely have to.

Rickah, the reason you haven't been asked to return anything is because you and I both are located in North America.

It's too expensive for them to refund the postage back.

When you are located in Europe, return shipping is cheaper and worth their effort. That's why we're asked to return Amazon.ca and Amazon.com items, but not Amazon.co.uk or .it or .fr items.

If however, the amount of your items is significant, they may ask you to return them still. I just returned four HP SteelBooks to Amazon.it for replacements. They are willing to reimburse the fees because otherwise they would have to eat the cost of four SBs.

If it is just one SB they may ask you to just keep it.

The bottom line is though that Amazon is much more responsive than Zavvi. I order a lot from both. Amazon's response time is typically within 1 business day even overseas from Amazon.it.

Zavvi's response time is more like 2-3 business days and they typically only respond via their internal customer portal, and not email.

Zavvi has had its share of bad experiences in the past, but they have really improved over this past year so I cannot fault them any longer.

A lot of the gripes from users are from 2 yrs ago or longer.

Jason, just posted that he had to send damaged copies back to AmazonFR, for which he was refunded.

Bottom line: we all have different opinions on retailers.
