The quality of British independent label Blu-ray Disc releases is something which should be of great national at the moment.
Between them, Eureka/MoC, Arrow, Artificial Eye, Second Sight, and now Signal One, are either matching or out-doing Criterion, Twilight Time and Kino at just about every step. It is now the norm to see US releases by these labels being out-done when the property appears in the UK. If region locking was a solid reality which we couldn't by-pass, you'd be better off being locked to the UK than the US. But that's with the independents. What's happening with the majors? Disney fail to release The Walt Disney Short Films Collection, Warner fail to release the Hammer titles or any of the great films noir with which they've been gracing the US market. Thanks to everyone at those independent labels; keep up the fantastic work. Majors! Hold your heads in shame! Steve W |
