I found the 500 points run more impressive.

Still it's quite insane that speedrunners are almost on the same level as TAS-runs.

That can be: slowing down the game to a crawl, using thousands of savestates, using scripts, etc. It normally results in "super-human reflexes" gameplay.

For example: Super Metroid TAS in 7:15

Super Mario 64 TAS in 15:35

This here is a Super Mario Bros TAS in 4:57:

It's only a few milliseconds faster than this regular speed-run. And that is fascinating.
