Default Is my Best Buy the only one...

Is my local Best Buy the only one where every employee is completely pro-Blu?

I always make a point to talk to at least one of them everytime I go in there (which is more than I care to admit). And It feels like I'm in this forum when I am in talking to them.

Plus their BR section is 5 times bigger than the DUD one.

They have BR and DUD "media stations" set up where you can see the samples on their TVs and speakers, and they always turn off the DUD TV so the sample isnt running.

The only downside is that they NEVER put BRs out early because they are anxiously awaiting the release dates as much as I am. So, unfortunately for me, they don't make mistakes like that.

I know its cheaper to purchase online (and i still do sometimes) but my g/f and I look forward to going to BB and buying from there. It's a Blu sanctuary in that place.

Well my local BB doesnt even have a HD-DVD media station, but they do have 2 Blu-Ray media stations showing the comparisons between dvd and blu. And the Blu section is would say is two times bigger than HD-DVD. Too bad when I always go in there the employees have no idea about blu, but I do always find myself giving reccomedations to people in the aisle that are trying to decide to go blu or DUD

haha, yours doesnt even have a DUD station? That's great!

I also try to make recommendations to people in the store.

If I can sway just one person from from the red side..........

HAHA, That's great! In my Best Buy there seems to be only one guy that knows what he's actually talking about, and he's all for the Blu!

I was at a local Best Buy today and was just looking through the Blu section with no intention of buying anything. One lady, not the typical person you would think of buying Blu-ray discs picked up a couple. Then this Best Buy employee came up to me looking all excited and asked if I needed any help finding anything. I said no I was just looking. But he seemed a little too eager.

My Best Buy has twice as much shelf space devoted to Blu! There are always people browsing the Blu-Ray section when I go there.

A friend and I were doing some Christmas shopping on Monday and I pointed out that I love Blu-Ray discs. She said, "Those are better than those other ones, aren't they?"

You know it! Those "other ones" kinda suck.

My local Best Buy's HD DVD is bigger by one section, and I asked an employee there why and his response was..."If you look at the HD DVD's section it doesn't move at all, they don't sell that great and we needed more room for them."

I was happy with that answer.

BB in Everett, WA has 2 shelf spaces next to DUD's 1. And there is a seperate smaller BD stand twards the back of the store next to the DVD section. Funny thing... I really do not see anyone at the red section anymore. Cobwebs are collecting and the sound of crickets are coming fom that direction. Not sure what that all about....

I have never seen someone looking at DUDs at my BB. I luckily get to help out other customers in the Blu section with their questions as if I work at the place. They keep trying to tell people that they need to buy the PS3 HDMI cable for $99 and that no other HDMI cables will work with it. A friend of mine fell for that BS before I had a chance to set him straight. When I was buying POTC AWE I got to tell someone that any HDMI cable would work, and he was looking at PE and my wife of all people told him it was great and he should buy it (even though she was pissed at me for buying it because of the price). It boggles my mind that average people like me know more about the products that are being sold than the people who are selling them. Maybe I could get a part-time job at BB on the weekends...

My Best Buy has the same shelf space for Blu-ray and DUD and they're back to back on the same stand - but interestingly the BD section faces out onto the main aisle where people pass by while the DUD section faces another set of shelves so you wouldn't notice it unless you were actually looking.

I've never seen anybody in the DUD section and I hope it stays that way :P

Blu and HD-DVDs are equal in Tennessee, DVD has way more shelf space. When I was picking up Kingdom of Heaven on Blu last weekend I overhead the salesguy saying that the outcome seems to be leaning 'a little bit' toward the Blu side.

Interestingly enough, the guy he was speaking to was pro-Sony. THe guy said he was an early adopter of Laserdisc, Minidisc, and Betamax back in the day. He said he was a real believer in Sony and asked the salesguy how involved Sony was in Blu-Ray!

My only complaint is that, for some reason, HD-DVDs are cheaper down here. The average is about $5.00 cheaper, but sometimes $8.00.

I hear ya man. I'm in there all the time. The prices are insane. Picked up a 37 inch Sharp last Sunday. SWEET.
Try the new Future Shop across the street. Got a few titles for $29.99.
Still better on Amazon though...
