This is still a work in progress and I have been dragging my feet for the finishing touches (I hate painting!!) but this is a labor of love and I am proud of it !!
![]() So over the years, I purchased many kinds of audio and HT gear on great bargains... some old (Craigslist/Ebay) Some new... but never had a dedicated space to set it up. The family room was setup with a 60" plasma and some good speakers which sufficed ....before the itch for a dedicated viewing area, with a bigger screen, kept coming up ![]() Well, finally this summer, I decided to finish my basement and setup this spot in the corner for my HT and 2 channel audio pleasure. It's heaven and I am glad I did it! 120 inches makes viewing Blurays an entirely new experience!!! Just thought of sharing the excitement with the folks here... Thanks guys for the kind words and the welcome!! I still have some work left to do but I decided to stop and enjoy this before I get back to it
![]() So this room is a part of an "L" shaped open area and the HT room is at the shorter end of the "L". The back of the room opens up to a bar and a long family room. I am planning to separate the 2 areas with curtains, to be used when watching movies. That's a long winded answer but the section of the room I would like to call my Home Theater would technically be 12ft wide x 20 ft long. I decided against the 2.35:1 due to space. As you can see, a 120", 16x9 ratio made this screen a good fit but if I were to go with a 2.35:1, I would have preferred a 150" which would make the screen space tight (considering the ceiling height is barely 8 ft and the floor standing speakers I use would block the viewing area). I also did not want to mess around with masking the screen when viewing 16:9 content, if that makes sense. |

Very nice.Am envious of your record player.Always wanted a technics with that light arrangement which shows the proper speed when I was young.Only thing which seems odd to me is that couch on the left side which seems like not the ideal place to watch the movies from, but guess it's from space restrictions...You should do levels!
![]() You must be very happy with the results ![]() |
